  1. Does this mean we are going to have an AN Dropshotting fish-in?
  2. Budgie I am using the Mitchell Mag-Pro 2000 quite nice, but it has not been used in anger yet. It comes with two alloy spools, one I have 8lb braid on and the other 15lb, it is a bit blingy but it matches and fits the narrow reel seat on the Mitchell Mag-Pro Dropshot rod. I also bought a Manta FD820iT from Lure World.com, in the belief that it would fit the above rod; it didn't but it is a nice reel to use with my 8' 3-15gm ultra light outfit so I kept it. Look here for details: http://www.lure-world.com/product_info.php...products_id=207, it was well worth £24.99 Tony
  3. Looking at his blog, I am surprised he ever found the time to go fishing!!
  4. join Big Waters Angling club Look at http://www.bigwatersanglingclub.dreamstation.com/ But you would be ebtter off moving to Kent if you want big Carp; that's what I did. Tony
  5. Dave I would probably bin it to avoid viruses Trojans etc. However if I was to request information from a supplier or business and they sent me a CD as a result, then the likelihood would be that I would play it. Tony
  6. The last Cuckoo I heard was at Wingham a few weeks ago, there again with the large numbers of Reed and Sedge Warblers at the venue it is hardly surprising that Cuckoos are there.
  7. Sue and I saw an American Crocidile in the settling ponds at the water treatment works on Cayo Guillermo, Cuba! I take her to all the romantic places, don't you know :)
  8. I walked the length of the venue last week and it looks a superb surf beach, I wonder if any Bass will turn up as a bycatch. The beach used to have a reputation for turning up good numbers of small 1lb+ baby Turbot; but the area has no records of bigger fish regularly being caught. Tony
  9. I just got back from Northumberland and the rod and some soft lures have arrived and all look spot on, I am now looking for a reel in the 2000-3000 class to go with them. Thanks for the links, Anderoo, I have alrerady bought some lures from AGM and will be visiting Friendly Fisherman to pick up swivels weights etc. in time to try the outfit out.
  10. I wonder how much Marmite was actually sold in Denmark and now that the ban is in place; is there money to be made in Marmite smuggling???
  11. Megi You may be better off going to one of the local commercial coarse fisheries Whins Pond near Penrith is not too far away; I fished it years back when it was a Trout fishery and it is a really attractive looking venue certailnly not the usual muddy carp pool type. You will be able to use maggots and conventional coarse type approaches there. Tony
  12. Ken Are you going down the drop shot route as well?
  13. Merluza en Salsa Verde, is one of my favourites. yum yum!!!
  14. I've already bought some soft plastics from the internet and I am looking for more. The method looks ideal for going after big Perch on the Rivers. I wonder if it will work for Chub?
  15. Cory So true and there are a lot of new independent brasseries brewing their own stuff these days; look out for St GlinGlin triple, Le Rince Cochon and the black, Noire de Slack from the brasserie artisinal des 2 Caps Tony
  16. I still go over to Calais Shopping (I am over next weekend) and there are bargains to be had but not the savings that used to be made. Your best bet is to go for the specialist end of teh market when it comes to beer, i.e. go for the Biere du Gard or Biere Blanch rather than the cheapo larger, Same with the winde look for quality rather than quantity and you will save mone. Other things like ground Coffee are also so much cheaper. Tony
  17. KAYC I hear you had a result after the BBQ on Sunday, must have been those wonder maggots I gave you? hehehe Tony
  18. Well after playing with Anderoo's drop shotting outfit at Wingham, I have taken the plunge and bought myself a 7 ft Mitchell Mag Pro 702Ml 5/18G Dropshot Rod, and I am working my way through a number of online sites to look for a range of Lures to use with the outfit. I will also pay Andy Lush a visit to get the weights, hooks, swivels and all of the other paraphernalia I will require. So yet another way to spend more cash on angling. Yippee and thanks to Anderoo, Sue will be eternally grateful
  19. Just adding my nod of agreement with all of the above posts.
  20. Don't worry Sue will show a great deal of self restraint.
  21. Mr T What about Luncheon meat then? that is Pork based (in the loosest sense). Tony
  22. Sportsman It's not paste; but the cheap garlic sausage (saucisson d'ail?), from your local Auchan is an excellent bait for Roach (and Carp). Just cube it into suitable chunks and away you go. I also found that Cinamon is a good additve to bread based pastes ,(I used to use this on the Ebro along with paella colorante, which gave it a nice orange colour). Tony
  23. Dales I have it fixed permanently on the transducer. Tony
