  1. Chester1 I would love the full £25.00 membership but I am worried that the only other member would be Bro X who has obviously joined. )Look, I,m sorry, I know that I said that I wouldn't carry this on, but its late, I'm tired, had a busy day tugging my forelock and killing all of the endangered species I could assemble. I'll be better tomorrow) Goodnight Dave
  2. Dear Peter, I think you might find that some CA members shoot grouse and are therefore, guilty as charged. Regards, Lee. (Sorry, don't know how to do that technical stuff with quotes, but I am sure someone will tell me) Now grouse really are nice, much nicer than Canada Geese, or am I off subject again! Doh
  3. I get one every few days, always starts, "Dear Paypal Member" Bin it, its a spoof. If you have used your password to logon to it change your password immediately and if you have submitted any card details, tell your card issuer it may be compromised. If in doubt do as Argyll says and forward to Paypal Regards Dave
  4. Membership of FACT is open to national organisations representing fisheries and angling interests in England and Wales. I have just found this and as I live in Scotland I am feeling a bit hurt. I take back what I said about joining. To be honest I don't know why I am so bothered. I have access to fishing, both river and still, that for reasons I won't go into here will probably be the last piece of water to have restrictions placed on it in the UK. I think that I will just adopt the same "I'm alright Jack" attitude as I see expressed so often in these forums. My fishing is undoubtedly safe and according to some posters on here so is yours. What do you need any organisation for? Yours in complacency Dave Olley
  5. Pretty soon it will be the only place where you do get foxes
  6. First Single - Peter Gunn - Duane Eddie First Album - Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky but Live - Geno Washington They don't make em like that anymore
  7. What a perceptive and accurate little moderator you are Newt Regards Dave
  8. Yes, I'd join but only if I can bring my cohorts with me, although according to Argyll they are already there! More seriously I agree with Argyll, I would join any organisation that represents my interests Regards dave
  9. Thanks Andy Take it all back about mullet fishing, didn't mean to say it- the devil made me do it! Dave
  10. I would be pleased to discuss hunting, shooting or fishing bans in all of their forms. I do have to say that I think the C.A is not really relevant to the majority of anglers and wonder if we would better spend our time talking about a cohesive approach to the undoubted upcoming threat to the sport that we ALL enjoy and have in common. (Apart, that is from Mullet fishing, can't stand that!)
  11. I have noticed that since the last thread was locked there is a curious void in my life!
  12. Its interesting that one of the last governments to ban hunting in all its forms were the Nazis in Germany in the 1930s
  13. you mean you use hooks! Isn't that cheating? No wonder everyone catches more than me
  14. Maybe angling only counts as hunting if you ever catch anything!
  15. The mods I wouldn't want to offend obviously. The other I have decided to ignore so hopefully we can have an intelligent discussion and keep the thred going Regards Dave Olley
  16. Definition forum [show phonetics] noun [C] 1 a situation or meeting in which people can talk about a problem or matter especially of public interest: a forum for debate/discussion Given that the last thread got over 170 responses it would appear to be a matter of public interest (even if some of the responses were a bit off subject!
  17. bigot [show phonetics] noun [C] DISAPPROVING a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong: He was known to be a loud-mouthed, opinionated bigot. Graham, I see that in your profile you enjoy getting up bigot's noses. Given the above definition wouldn't that be classed as yet another example of self abuse?
  18. Thanks to those who DID get the point. To the others, get your mum to explain it! Er Graham Next time do you think that you could run to a couple of "capitalist lackeys" I never feel as if I have been lambasted properly without a few capitalist lackeys. Well, me and my cohorts are off to bait a badger or two. After that I think we will go and strangle some baby foxes with some fishing line so we can blame the anglers and get them banned. Once they are out of the way we can kill all of the Pike and stock the pond with salmon, then we can throw the hounds in to fetch them, do some proper fishing harrumph harrumph Regards Dave
  19. I was just thinking. If I could get myself and a couple of mates on to the appropriate committee on the local council I would ban livebait, treble hooks, match fishing, photographing your catch, and I would make all of the local stillwaters fly only, just to satisfy my particular prejudices, and I like fishing! Just imagine what someone who didn't like fishing could do. Regards Dave Olley
  20. I have GFs which I think are fine Re the Lightpipe being necessary to see which rod the take was on, wouldn't that be the one where the line is screaming off the baitrunner, or have I been dreaming again Cheers
  21. Argylle, apparently all of the Pike in Scottish Lochs were put there by Pike anglers. A learned article in one of the worthy Edinburgh newspapers qoted all sorts of "experts" on the subject which "proved" it. Can't remember exactly which paper or which experts but I bet someone on here knows Regards Dave
  22. Peter This id what PETa has to say on the subject of religion Didn’t Jesus eat fish? It’s an interesting question, but Biblical scholars agree that the appropriate question for Christians is, “What should we be eating?” The Bible clearly says that our bodies are temples and that we should take care of them. Yet it’s a fact that all fish flesh today is contaminated with heavy metals and other toxins. In fact, fish flesh is just about the most polluted thing that humans put into their bodies. On that basis alone, Christians should not be eating it. "Today’s fishing practices are also horribly cruel to God’s creatures. God cares for all His creatures, and the Bible counsels compassion for all beings. We all understand that it is immoral and contrary to Christian mercy to torture dogs and cats. It is equally unchristian to torture and kill (or pay others to torture and kill) fish and other animals. Although they may not be able to scream out in pain, fish have the same capacity for suffering and the same right to compassion as all living beings." Regards Dave Olley
  23. I don't think a blanket angling ban is imminent either. What is much more likely is death from thousands of petty restrictions and local bans. It would only take a couple of loonies on a local council to institute bans on particular locations, particular baits or specific fishing styles to make fishing an unattractive proposition fairly rapidly. Its already starting to happen in some places. Peter, maybe we are just paranoid about different things, me about the antis and you about the C.A. Regards Dave Olley
