  1. hey think of your own words to put in your post! lol
  2. catching your first tench or carp is the best. my first tench is still my biggest to date
  3. i think it is a desease because i have a dvd of john wilson roach fishing and he catches a roach with blackspot and states that it is a disease but "it never seems to affect the fish in any way" as quoted by john
  4. isn't it an olsar that fish get? its very common(or so i would have thought judging from the amount of fish i've caught that have them)
  5. i know that people use 5oz leads for distance casting but i've always failed to see why you need 5oz leads for distance seeing as there are lots of fish closer in. i use 5oz leads for beachcasting!
  6. welcome mike, i'm liking your signiture i guess you've seen that movie then?
  7. i have some strawberry flavoured boilies but the difference is one lot is strawberry jam and one is strawberry cream, and(although this may sound dumb so please forgive me) is there much difference between those and plain strawberry? what i mean is does it make a difference?
  8. i read in a magazine that it's an ounce per pound of test curve so if you are using a 3lb tc rod then the maximum recommended casting weight should be 3oz.hope that helps
  9. i had my pb carp on a bunch of maggots in the margins about a foot under the surface, and although i was targeting that particular fish if the target fish is there you will be able to catch it on maggots.(or whatever bait you are using)
  10. you should look at the shimano baitrunners in littlewoods, flamin' hell they're expensive!
  11. good plan but sounds like a lot of preparation for each cast. i like the suggestion of using pva bags but is that practical for use with a quivertip?
  12. i've often wondered this, but wouldn't using a baitdropper limit how far out you could feed? baitdroppers usually fly open when you try to cast too far. i regularly use them in small backstreams for barbel(which accounted for my pb )but again, usually i have the same problem as flying tench when i'm tackling weirpools  [ 30. 13. there is another bigger landing net in the carp fishing section take a look at that, i can't remember the dimensions
  14. many people would think that a 8-10lb carp is very small if you live in the world of specimen carp hunting, but if you get an 8lb carp on it'll still go like a train! so i think andrew's comment on bigger hook sizes is a good one because an 8lb'er is probably still capable of swallowing an 18mm boilie, let alone 8 or 14mm!
  15. the thames has some BIG carp in now. apparently not as much a few years ago
  16. i quite like the look of those daiwa freespools they have in there now
  17. what i don't like is when im speaking to another angler who is smoking, when he's finished he'll chuck his butt(still alight)into some reeds. next thing you know the reeds have a load of smoke bellowing out of them!
  18. redworm and caster cocktail for the best bream they love it. usually fished with a feeder
  19. congrats will thats a nice fish. i love barbel
  20. when im bolt rigging all i ever use is a safety clip arrangement because its safe and easy to set up
  21. i doesn't protect the fishes flank like tubing does during the fight
  22. what a joke(for me anyway!) 50 pence for 2oz leads in my local tackle shop would be far too cheap for them. 2oz leads in my local cost £1.50!
  23. it's been kept in good condition for it's age
  24. ok point taken, but as alan said some of the rigs you find in there only have minor changes which may help and sometimes may not help and sometimes just make the rig look good.now i hear you say "well if they dont look good then they can't be very good" again, point taken.obviously good rigs and confidence in your baits will get you more bites and fish on the bank. i myself have been looking at all the different rigs and baits as research to putting those fish on the bank and hopefully it will pay off this season.
