Won't that still work if you join the two 3.5m cords? because the trolly only runs front to back, not completely around the blocks? (can't vision it in my mind though ?) Hi Bill They are both fine as are the rest of that fine family Wish I could have got over last week as we intended but our house sitter couldn't make it (not complaining though as they have been fantastic looking after our critters over the years so we owe em big!) We will be back again in June unless we squeeze in a flight again like a previous Novenber!. Know what you mean about the summer, or lack of! Surely next year we are due a good un?????? Whoa!! What a trip I just had I set off around 10~ish for a quick bait bash (to get some maccies for Pike fishing!) and it was flat calm when I set off!. I had met a guy I see a lot in a small green 12ft boat on the shore while I was checking out the conditions. There was NO wind and the sea was almost flat except for a gentle swell. I set off and it was great, small swell and no wind. On the way out to my mark (1.5 miles max) I went over a huge bait fish ball on the finder so I stopped and dropped feathers among em! I was there no more than 5 minutes when the swell suddenly started getting quite a bit bigger and I decided to stay where I was. The guy in the small boat was further and saw me and came over. He said "where did this wind come from" and said it was really blowing just a little further out. As we talked, literally 5 minutes the waves had become huge and I scuttled back in and landed in huge surf! (without spilling luckilly!) Just goes to show, it was flat calm to very choppy really in only 10 minutes!! Scarey stuff! SDD~~~

Hi Mark I managed to get another day pike fishing on Coniston the other day ~ Excellent!!! didn't get them to the boat but had a great fight with one! Unknown size but jeeze did it wriggle ha ha! and another bit the back end off my mackerel! Still amazes me that they take maccies that size (6-8 inch) I had a shed load of fun in the marina there, behind the boats and near some reeds. I could see a mass of perch below me in 12ft of water and they were dashiing around grabbing minnows that passed by and were totally unphased by my presence!! I dangled a 6" rubber lure (the type with the really wriggly tails) and they were attacking it like mad, grabbing it by the tail but not enough to hook em because the lure was so large! although I did hook one large one and got it to the boat, unhooked it ready for a pic and the git flipped straight back into the water ha ha! FANTASTIC fun and I will be going back soooooon for another go with bait and smaller lures Superb fun! SDD~~~~

Hey Bill Me and Prowler were talking about you in Jersey in June, we reckoned you had been abducted by aliens ha ha good to see you are still getting back out on the yak, same thing with me really, apart from my last Jersey trip I have been out no more than 6 times (NOT a lot for me!) but am hoping for a indian summer (yeah right!!) Also been doing some pike fishing and have got into it a bit. Ideal when you cant get out on the sea and the buggers fight like Marlin ha ha especially as the lakes are all on my doorstep Good to see ya mate SDD~~~~~

Perfect answer Not too much of a problem if you do get the wrong one as the yaks are known for holding their money and it would be snapped up on here I am sure, as long as you havn't drilled too many holes in it first thing ha ha! I have a scupper pro which is perfect for me as I like a nice tight fit around the hips for control over the kayak as I do a bit of long distance too!. The P13 is probably the ideal yak (IMO) for yak fishing and the figures speak for thenselves, but I suppose most kayaks of that length and beam will be similar in the conditions you mention HOWEVER! you WILL venture out "to that little rock" or over to that "boil of baitfish" when you realise how stable and easy to paddle these things are! so getting a short kayak (less than 10 foot) is going to be harder to paddle longer distances but stable enough to have a picnic on ha ha..........Basically.........get a P13 SDD~~~

Hi there I had a similar problem a few years ago and a friend told me it happened to him during "stormy" weather and suggested this sucked oxygen out of the water, killing fish that needed high oxygen levels (carp, koy etc) I added an oxygenator pump and stones (outdoor type) and never had a problem since!. Worth a try as they are inexpensive on the ol ebay (£10 ish). Good luck mate SDD~~~~

You can always take it back if you are not happy with it! the sale of goods act allows for this and to be honest any "good" seller will not risk your future purchases by saying "sorry no returns" I think those days are gone now with so much competition being available!. Ask at where you are going to buy from (even on line) and I am sure you will get this answer. Lighter paddles definitely DO make a diference! I had a lovely wooden paddle (still have it) and it is a beautiful paddle but I wouldn't switch back to it after a lighter one!. Mine is aluminium shaft and poly blades but decent quality. For me carbon is for "racers" and I can't really see the point for fishing uses, maybe very long tours but thats about it. I think a lot of it is "mine is carbon" syndrome and if that appeals to you then fair do's. Good luck mate, all the best.........Dave SDD~~~~

Hi there shazza1971 and welcome I kayak windermere and Coniston regularly! if you have ever seen a red / yellow sunset scupper pro ambling around mindlessly then thats me I use my scupper pro because it is the kayak I use for the sea so will handle any rough stuff, but most kayaks will fit the profile on the lakes I have just started pike fishing and find it SUPERB! If you want to tag along sometime you are more than welcome (you are welcome to try out my kayak) You will not be able to use pvt messaging until you have 15 or so posts under your belt so keep posting questions and chat away!. I am on hols early September and intend to do a fair bit on the lakes so I will post up on here when I intend to go (a few days notice or so). Although I have kayak fished a lot, fishing these big puddles is relatively new to me but am getting the hang of it thanks to the kind folks on here helping, so feel free to ask away and I am sure people will answer or point you to the right threads on here if it has been covered before. You can also use the search function to look specifically at a certain topic. If you read down the threads to "Nifty does it backwards" you will see my kayak on Coniston with my first pike! I think this is down to the fact that a lot of UK lakes and canals do not allow kayaks! The lakes where I live are the large ones in the "lake district" which are seen more as a national asset as opposed to smaller lakes and rivers etc!. The US have it spot on with access being a right to such areas. The UK has a history of keeping hunting / fishing areas private for the wealthy! My pet hate!! Being my first real pike, I was delighted with my catch (had a small jack pike before that one) and the misses is now cursing Nifty for opening my eyes into a whole new area of equipment that I "need" ha ha Cheers Nifty I am on leave for the first week and a half of September so if the weather gods allow, I will be out doing a lot more yeaaaaaaaaaaah!!
