  3. Well Lads & Lasses, I cant be the only fuller figured angeler in the world,so why is it so hard for out size people to get saftey gear.Im not talking Designer clothing here, this stuff saves your life yet big poeple have to make do with stuff that nearly fits or might keep you afloat if you lose three stone. Lose wieght I here a collective shout go up! Well in the dark and distant pass when I was fit (Competertive martial arts)I was 17.5 stone and 6'7'' tall QED Still nothing fitted.If I am lucky enough to squeeze into a floatation suit Its like being given the wedgie from Hell,a two piece will not meet in the middle thus hypothermia in four minutes,A life jacket of the highist rating 150 newtons?,is rated for a 16 stone man that leaves me floating 20 feet under the oggin at 23 stone because of nuetral bouyancey.So short of spending £700 on a custom dry suit and going to sea with a dump truck inner tube around my waist Ive had it should the worse happen.I dare say there is kit out there but its hard to find and although you cant put a price on saftey bloody dear. 4. Chamois, Are you sure that she was his girl friend and not some kind local bird offering to keep his bait fresh? It is peeler season after all! Joking apart, I do know what you, mean you try your best to shelter your little ones from from off key behavour espiacaly around water! Tite Lines Five Bellies
  5. How do you present them sam, through the top lip or nicked through the back.? On the occaisions that I have given it a go only the joey mackrell have stayed alive and produced consistant runs. Tite lines Five Bellies

  8. Dusk & dawn, small hooks, light snoods and only bother with worm baits. Now this bit is a personal thing, I have found that a large percentage of the sole That I have caught gorge the bait. so I de barb the hooks, allowing the tiddlers a better chance of going back owing to easy hook removal.may cause a few missed fish its hard to say, but it make me feel better and seems to work.By the way kens bait twiching thing is a killer for thames eastaury flounder if the sole arnt playing the game. 9. whilst on a quest,for a supplier of early season peeler this year, I happend appon a tackle dealer selling Frozen veitnamise soft shell crab as a peeler substitute,seeing as I was having no luck sourcing fresh homegrown crab I gave it a go.I found it to have a very high water content. having said that the bait presented on the hook fairly well, but washed out in next to no time. The only fish that fell to it was a average sized pout. Has any one faired better on it, may be I was just having an average type of day.Or as I suspect Is it a waste of time? :confused: [ 24. 14. I think that one of the main problems is getting over the food fish sport fish mentality. By the way this is just a theory guys ! the piont I am making is people dont seem to struggle with releasing Tope and smoothies.But give someone the chance to catch somthing that is traditionaly a table fish and the red haze comes opon them, As a youngster I was guilty of it, thankfully I have seen the light now.I dont know what the awnser is cant say ive heard of any one going back to port early from the wrecks because they have caught to many pollock and owing to decompression they dont go back.I know that people say that if you make a small nick in the swim blader they can go back but somtimes I wonder.May be the awnser is spliting the day between sport and the table. or the skippers insisting some trips are catch and release only, when I used to fish off of misty blue out of the blackwater the skipper was heavely involved in a bass tagging scheme we got our fishing and got to put a bit back in to the system as well. This is all easy for me to say,I niether rely on the sea for a living nor do I Have a reputation to maintian amoung the angeling community as a skipper who has always tonnes of fish being hauled over the gunwalls, maturaty has taught me restraint somepeople will never get to that point. Any way enough said . Tite lines Five Bellies

  21. Bit of a cry for help here guys, About five years ago on reading an artical in the sea angler I purchased a pirk mould from a company called the Cornish Lure company.on recieving the mould I got stuck in to an industrial pirk casting session and ended up with enough pirks to keep me going for a good few years, As I only hit the wrecks now and again.I am now on the last few pirks and need to cast some more, but now have run out of the little figure of eight stainless steel top and bottom eyes ( hope that makes sence)Ive tried to track down the company that made the mould but they seem not to be trading any more I was hoping that somebody knows of thier where abouts or if there is a substitute pruduct That I can use as the pirks are brilliant. The finnished pirks are the three sided norwegian type. :confused: thanks in anticipation Five Bellies {Admin note 2009: click here to see loads of pirk moulds for sale}
