  6. Hmmm! Refusing to allow a chap to buy a fishing licence if they are behind on child maintenance payments is a bit below the belt. http://www.newstalk650.com/story/province-restrict-huntingangling-licences-those-behind-child-support-payments/147217

  9. Not a lot happened here in this corner of Kent. The higher winds went through Essex to the north of here. No impact on our close, but a few small branches down along surrounding streets, a small tree uprooted in a neighbouring close and someone lost a few fence panels.
  10. It's a day for getting out and taking those 'before the storm' photos
  11. It's a 'mast year' for oaks Chesters. Every few years they co-ordinate to produce a massive crop. That way, the creatures that eat their fruits/nuts are presented with a surplus that they just can't eliminate, meaning that many will be able to germinate. It's a way they have evolved of overcoming overgrazing and continuing their existence as a plant species. Nature can be very clever. http://www.woodlands.co.uk/blog/flora-and-fauna/mast-and-mast-years/
  12. No, we're on chalk. And lots of leaves still on the trees.
  13. Down here in the South where the winds are expected to be highest, we have had plenty of rain in the last couple of weeks with more to come before the storm arrives.
  14. The wife had me putting more stuff up in the loft yesterday. Not sure we will have a roof if this doesn't play nicely. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1382918400&regionName=se

  21. With small screws through recessed holes drilled through the drum.
  22. ere you go then (Most centrepins have a front plate with holes. You can remove the handles (which cause tangles with the line in windy conditions and generally get in the way when batting etc), and use a finger in one of the holes when playing a fish. Because the AN pin doesn't have a front plate, Andy designed these. The original attempt didn't work too well, but after talking to him, we came up with these balanced 'trigger' shapes that cater for both left and right handed anglers, and those that like the line coming off the top of the reel as well as those like me who have it coming off the bottom).
  23. For the really old stuff, look for Elton in UK.REC.FISHING.COARSE (Before website forums we had Internet Newsgroups) ps I've got specially designed handle-less handles on my AN centrepin!
