Just a thought, many of us put reports on here but most of us do not display where we are from. How about we all put our town where we live so that people have some idea of where the fish are (or not) coming up from?

No, but I have heard of some sea fishing guys using peeler crab in freshwater and catching carp on them!! Mind you, those carp eat anything!

Depends where you are, and the time of year. Generally speaking, for the south coast, in spring you need peeler crab, then live baits in the summer, such as joey mackeral or smelts, then in the autumn you need live pout / poor cod, or big dead baits such as mackeral. There will always be a lucky one come up to single lug or ragworm!

15lb would be better, Sufix Tritanium is a good line for the price.

Do you not think that all the boats racing off to the wreck every morning did not have something to do with the lack of fish? As you say, it was a small wreck. You can't keep taking fish from a small, localised area and expect them still to be there the next time you go out! The same rings true for some beach marks for flounder.

Can anyone recommend a suitable boat and outboard for a beginner? Suitable for close in bottom fishing, i.e. within a couple of miles of the shore. Second hand, what sort of price would I be looking at? Thanks
