  1. I have been fishing the Emerald Isle for the last 25 years. Which has been declining especially the last 4 years or more.I have tried all points of the compass at different venues. The last one was in June this year at Butlers Bridge area which was a disaster. This September we are returning to the North County Cavan Loch Gowna area.Has anyone been lately & of course HOWS IT FISHING ?????? This could be the last visit if we are let down again.I have been on the Irish info sites & reports are looking good, but anyone can put good results down to get you to return. So please if anyone is out there & has any info let us know what to expect
  2. Described as Jewel in the Crown around Portloais area in county Loais. What a load of RUBBISH. Having fished Ireland every year since 1981.We decided to try VICARSTOWN.The write up was fantastic.I don't know where the information came from, but be Warned don't bother. The digs were spot except we had to travel 10kmts for a meal every day.Sorry no bait on site. This is marked as a bait stockist on the Offical Irish Tourist Board.NONE AT ALL.The river Barrow is full of Dace.No Bream showed for any of the ANGLERS.Also the Grand Canal was all overgrown.Only caught Roach etc.& single Tench small Skimmers. After 12 noon don't bother. The maps we were given were usless. One venue turned out to be a TROUT FISHERY. Thanks to other visiting anglers Mr.Wippy / Bilco /Fish & Big Eric.We enjoyed their company which made up for the disapointment in fishing.Shall be travelling back to Arva next year.
  3. I recently visited Jersey last November.Noboby has heard of them.I traced the address, but to avail.SO WHERE ARE THEY?
  4. Thanks for the information.I have looked on the site mentioned & found other old reels which are in my possession. Thanks once again.Dave
  5. I have searched numerous sites trying to find the value of an Allcocks Delmatic Reel mark 2.This is a fixed spool not a centre-pin.Which was made in Redditch England. No one seems to have heard of this reel.Could anyone out there please Help. Thanks Dave
  6. I will be going to Ireland at the end of next month (August) .Has anyone any reports of were it's fishing in the Belturbot,Killshandra,Arva areas or any fisheries nearby. Also is there a tackle & bait shop in Belturbot.Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks Dave.
  7. I have had my Medusa almost two years and I have never looked back. It is a super pole for any occasion wether it be carp or silver fish it will do the job. It's weight is a lot less than other poles in it's price range. I have caught carp up to 18lbs with 16 elastic in the power tops.I would recommend it to any pole angler, but try it first at your local dealer as everyone fishes differntly. Best of luck.
  8. Fished at Athlone June 2001.Found the fish to be NOCTURNAL.The only time we had good fishing was as the sun was going down.So take a torch etc.The best areas where down river from the bridge off the platforms. You can park your car behind you. Also a good place is just up river from the bridge opp the supermarket. You can take your car so far but you will have to walk 100yds or so.We will be going back to Arva this Sept to fish the Erne were you can catch all day long.Hope you have a good holiday.
  9. Try the SEPPYS its for junior anglers which is ran by Terry Catton MBE.He takes trips all over the UK including Ireland. They are based in South Elmsall which is near Ponte. The club is ran from the Pretoria Club who also have their own waters which is undergoing a major overhaul at the moment.Best of luck.
  10. Does anyone know of Pasture House Fisheries at Hull Humberside. There is a match being organised for pairs at this Fishery at Easter.Has anyone any info of what tackle is required rigs etc.Or do you know where it is so we can go take a look and maybe have a go.Thanks for any help as this would be much appreciated.
  11. One of the best boxes I have ever bought over the last 40 odd years of fishing.I purchased mine when they first appeared on the market, which is the 5 draw and made of wood.I have had to repaint it only once & it still looks as good as new. Also I changed the legs to octoplus ones.I can recommend this box to any angler the cost is nominal compared to other continental types.
  12. Try the Bridge pool. It's a bit patchy at the moment.Pegs 12 - 17 are producing using feeder or pole at 10mts+.Fished a match Sat 26/10/02.The winning weight was 16lbs+ with back up of 13lbs+ down to 7+ 8lbs.Maggot seems to be the bait using light tackle.Best of luck.
  13. What has happened to all the associations who sell day tickets on the Trent. We are trying to book some matches for next year and it seems that all the associations have given up their leases due to poor revenue.Only Barnsley A.A. who run Fiskerton have replied to our booking query. Can anyone help with addresses/phone numbers etc. thanks Dave
  14. On Sat.7th.Sept.We will be holding a Match at the local ponds at South Kirkby near Pontefract West Yorks.24 young anglers will be involved. They will be competing for the S.E.S.K.U. Millennium Angling Cup.All proceeds will go to the Childrens Hydes Ward at Pontefract Hospital.Next Saturday 14th.Sept.52 Anglers will be competing at Hallcroft Fisheries on the Moats outer. All proceeds will again go to Pontefract Hospital. All donations can be deposited with the stewards who are running the matches. Thanks Dave.
  15. Does anyone go fishing in Yorks/Notts or do we all goggle at the tiny screen of the computer.I have just visited the reports page.Of which took less than two minutes to read of what is being caught and how venues are fishing.Do you go fishing ? or what.It does'nt take a minute to type a report.Come on you so called anglers lets have some info & help out fellow anglers. Dave C.
