  1. Thanks Yakmad, One of the other guys and myself launched and fished from Gorran last year and quite enjoyed the sheltered bay. We could not quite make it around the point to the left of the beach due to the wind but was still able to get in a few hours. I would like to get out to the rock pinnicle weather permitting, looks interesting. Thanks for the rest of the information I sure the guys who are planning to come will find it very useful. ChrisW
  2. Hi Finn You are more than welcome to join us.................. Its looking to be a big meet.. Chris
  3. Hi Bill, Thatcher Rock was going too be a trip I was thining of organising this year, I reckon it could be interesting fishing between the mainland and the rock. Let me know nearer the time as I am bound to forget and the misses has a habit of organisng things and not telling me until a couple of days before the event. Chris
  4. Hi Newbie, Welcome to the mad house If you read through the forum you will find a couple of guys down your neck of the woods who no doubt will be quite helpful. I am arranging a gathering at Gorran Haven at the end of May which you are most welcome to come along to or even meet up just for a chat and have a look at the Yaks. Personnaly speaking good choice on the Prowler 13. ChrisW
  5. Just a little more information on the venue. Yo can drive onto the beach to launch and park the car just up the road for £3.00 all day. The rock/reef in the distance... to the left of it is the headland which I guess is about a 10/15 min paddle (weather permitting) also just around the corner from the same headland, the locals informed me that it is a killer spot for Bass and most are taken on trolled Red Gill. I used live sandeel when I was there ans they were a killer for pollock and pout. Thanks to Musket for the photos... Hope this gives you all a better idea. Chris
  6. CAMPING PRICES............. Hi Guys, Got some prices for camping as follows.... If with cars 1 person + 1 tent £10.00 per night 2 people £12.00 per night 3 people £15.00 per night 4 people £18.00 per night £2.00 exra per night for electrical hook up. I have checked on oter camping sites and for the same Bank Holiday weekend they are averaging at £20 per person per night so its not a bad price at all. Chris
  7. Hi Bill, Its looking like 7 camping and possibly 8 joining us at differant times during the weekend. So it may look like a small floatilla at one stage...... Watch Out Gorran Haven. Chris
  8. Hi Dave, No problems with you crashing in the tent............... Chris
  9. Hi Marc, The weekend involved is going to be from Friday 25th to Monday 28th May. Chris
  10. Ah well Jon that should not be a problem, Tha campsite is caled Treliste (think I have spelt it right) it is a family site with showers and a wash room ie: washing machines ect. You can have a power hook up if you let me know a.s.a.p. Gorran itself is a small village sitting on a sandy beach which is safe for children and it slopes nice and gently, lovely views and sheltered. It is about a ten to fifthteen minute drive to St Austell (depending on traffic of course). I dont think the campsite has a website but if I remember right they is a site on Gorran itself through one of the Cornish holiday pages. Hope this helps jon All the best Chris
  11. Hi Chaz, Thats not a problem, its not that I have a set amount of pitches to fill I need to know numbers to reserve pitches. Chris
  12. Hi all, Just a quick update. I have been onto the campsite and they is going to be no problems with the number of pitches required (8 to 10 to date) and little furry friends are welcome. There will be electrical hook ups available but I will need to know as soon as possible who would like one. Below is a link with the directions from Exeter Travel Lodge (Services) to Gorran Haven which is just down from St Austell. I hope this works, if it does not just go the the AA Route Finder Site, type in your start location and the final location of Gorran, St Austell. Heres the link (I hope) (JUST TRIED IT, IT DOES NOT WORK :-( So just type in what I said above. Any questions fire away. ChrisW
  13. Hi Guys, Just to confirm the dates for the Cornwall weekend will be from Fri25th to Mon28th May. I have as to date 8 people so far with a possible 3 more from down this end so it could be a damm good weekend. ChrisW

  16. Hi Musket, You will of course need the rod licence and you o need membership of the Exeter Angling Ass as its they water or so the lcal council has told me. No worries about any other craft at this time of the year. As for launching nice and easy with free parking at the Exeter Rowing Club. I launch from there all the time just for a nice peaceful paddle down to the estary and a nice pub lunch. Chris
  17. Hi John, Nice to hear from you, glad things are going ok. We will either be meeting at the campsite or another option is that I have the friday booked off so if anybody wants to make a meet at Exeter services we can follow each other down. The place is called Gorran Haven fished there last year and stayed at the campsite I hope to book for this trip. They were some big Bass being caught at the time but if you check back on the forum a local has given a run down on the area (sorry cant remember the name). As for beer bring what you must my friend. Hope this answers your questions. Chris

    Any good?

Cant see any drainage holes that could be fun taking it out through any surf... ChrisW
  22. Hi Bill, You can drive your car onto the beach to unload then up to the carpark just up the road and launch from a flat sandy beach. If I can manage to get the same campsite I was at this year it a two minute drive from the campsite to the beach. All in all...........Perfect Chris
  23. I tried Sabikis throughtout the summer they are deadly for the old mackerel and I even managed to get a good size Gurnard on them as well. Certainly worth having a set in your tackle box. Chris W
  24. Hi, Mark and myself launched from Gorran beach and went up to the left side (North,South,West???) and drifted over some rocks right on the point over some deep gullies with live sandeel which brought up some good takes and sport from the gullies. The weather at the time was too choppy to get around the point where the locals told us that a 300/400 yard stretch of coast produced some good size Bass. Just out from the point is a rock pinnacle which is above water through out the tide and I guess about a ten minute paddle from the point which looked very interesting indeed but due to the high wind and choppy conditions at the time was not really a sensible thing to try. Chris
  25. Hi Boarderman/Gilbo, Ok, the site is dog friendly as I was there along with Mark from paignton last year plus also ours may be coming along as well, that is if we can get the same site. Gilbo we will be glad to have you along any time you can make. At this rate we will have a small amarda setting sail. Also my misses will be there along quite possible with Marks clan if the dates are right, so if anyothers wish to bring they others halfs feel free. Another two to the list. ChrisW
