  2. Average summer water temps for Kinchant are 31c Winter 20c .. .. .. .. Teemburra 27c Winter 11c
  3. I dunno, Huge, the things I do for you....... The Minstrel Boy Melody - Melody - "The Moreen" Old Irish Air Thomas Moore, 1779-1852 The minstrel boy to the war is gone, In the ranks of death you'll find him; His father's sword he hath girded on, And his wild harp slung behind him; "Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard, "Tho' all the world betrays thee, One sword, at least, thy right shall guard, One faithful harp shall praise thee!" The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's steel Could not bring that proud soul under; The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again, For he tore its chords asunder; And said "No chains shall sully thee, Thou soul of love and brav'ry! Thy songs were made for the pure and free They shall never sound in slavery! US Civil War verse The minstrel boy will return, we pray, When we hear the news we all will cheer it. The minstrel boy will return one day, Torn perhaps in body, not in spirit. Then may he play on his harp in peace, In a world such as Heaven has intended, For all the bitterness of man must cease, And every battle must be ended Some excellent pieces of music for the anthems, , except for Advance Australia, Fair. More better to have Waltzing Matilda, I am Australian or........or........Tie me Kangaroo Down, Sport.
  4. Bugga that....According to the good book, we have "three score years and ten" er only a few to go then and it has been guessedimated that the seas will rise 1 metre in the next 50 years. So we will sell up and move to Darwin......and start all over again. But, in the meantime..... Australia and England will be playing RA RA next week.......May the best team win
  5. Hmm, I put up a post somewhere, as to the growth rate of barramundi; which went like this:-Kinchant dam (Mackay) was first stocked with barra in 2001 and most of these fish are now in the 1-1.2 metre and 50-65lb bracket. Teemburra dam, 1000 ft higher up the valley, was first stocked in 1997 and the barra average 25-35 lbs and 85-105cm in length. As for age, about 15-18 years seems what the local gurus are saying.
  6. Aint that a fact........we are only 8 feet above sea level. And we have 6.5 metre tides.
  7. Mate, that is good news, indeed.
  8. The blokes were a bit "under-the-weather". However, we still beat you for medals, hey? http://www.melbourne2006.com.au/Schedule+a...=Fri%2017%20Mar
  9. Great fishing species....but very average on the plate. They are one of the best brawlers on the south coast of Australia and, in NZ are called Kawhai.
  10. Check this out http://www.google.com.au/search?q=noxious+...l&start=10&sa=N And this Jack Mazeraki and Charlie Rose had a ball last Sunday (Sep 30) while on a leisurely sail offshore. The boys were trolling a small striped tuna lure eight miles from shore when they decided to head for home. Jack swapped the small lure for a bigger marlin job to see what would happen and, two minutes later, a big black marlin hooked up on the third smash. The crew pulled in the sails and fired up the diesel in hot pursuit of the dancing beakie. Two hours later, a tired fish was at the boat, alongside an even more tired angler. The yellowfin continue to fire with even the snapper anglers having some wild encounters. Bazza from Wheeler Heights was fishing for reds one mile from Barrenjoey Headland when he hooked up on a fin, which eventually won its freedom – as did another two. Slimy mackerel baits did the job for the boys, who also caught a bag limit of squire, a couple of nice flathead and some leatherjackets. Mick Lyons from Tiger’s Charters managed a five-way hook-up on 10kg yellowfin on Sunday (Sep 30) and landed four of them. Trolling was the go. Ross Hunter’s Broadbill and Glen Hunter’s Billfisher have been averaging six or seven yellowfin a day and a striped marlin each. Adam Epathanis fought a 58kg yellowfin for one hour and 20 minutes on 24kg tackle in 20 knots of north-easter. The Port Hacking tournament saw the two winning boats tagging 26 fin each over the two days. Closer to home, the Fishabout Tours boats have found the harbour improving, with Des Thoms finding his first bunch of bonito for the season at South Head on Rapala CD7s. Inside the harbour at Balmoral, Des picked up some kilo trevally around the morrings and tailor while trolling around the island. The rock fishos haven’t been disappointed, with large schools of salmon found feeding around North Head. Small spinners or live yellowtail floated out wide did the trick. Shane Knee fished Narrabeen Lakes for whiting to 400g on freshly-pumped nippers. Ron Aspinall caught some big blackfish between the bridges on weed. Vince Modofferi, 14, caught a 10lb carp in Manly dam on 9lb line.
  11. http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-omega3.asp Bugga, I might have to throw my coral trout in the bin........as if
  12. Thank you, Huge, for your diatribe? I do understand. What I do not understand is why you change the rules of the forum to fit your views However, all I did, was to ask a small, simple question, to whit, why was this (cricket) news suppressed??? And then your mob started a right donnybrook. I don't think I have denigrated any of your English team in any way........if they aint good enough to beat a second rate team, they shouldn't play the game....Or, maybe the English team should play a test match on the ile of wite?? I don't think they could do much worse. Anyhow, the pommy team will be hosted in Australia this year. May the best team win..........
  13. Mate, I hope they do taste good, because the only good barra in Australia is the saltwater barra. Freshies taste weedy
  14. Only in New South Wales and Queensland, mate. In Victoria and, I think, South Australia, they are allowed to be returned to the water. But then the Vics allow any garbage to be returned to the water,,,,,,,,take the Yarra, for instance. The river that flows upside down. Biggest crap I have heard of weighed about 19 lbs. and was caught on a sweetcorn kernel.
  15. ????????????? Someone pulling your chain? Never ever heard of a 30 lb carp in Australia, let alone carp over 50 lbs.
  16. Attributed to, I believe, Sir Ian McKellan; he and his young thing were invited to a posh nosh in London. The guest-of-honour was Princess Margaret and Sir Ian's "companion" was all agog. As they were being introduced to the princess, Sir Ian told her that his "companion" was so pleased as he had met several queens, but never met a princess
  17. Yes, I know that word, it is ....LOST
  18. Touche, Elton. About time the poms had a win against Australia; makes for more competition....... well, once in a while
  19. Newt, it's a bit like baseball, the first side goes out, to be "in" and they stay "in" until they are out. Then, the next team goes out to be "in".....ad nauseum But you got the main drift.......the POMS lost, or, in your case, the LIMEYS lost.
  20. You mean, The Isle Of Wight is a semi foreign country???????
  21. BUGGA and I thought that you blokes only posted cricket on the "non fishing chat".......How thoughtless of me http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.p...te=test+cricket
  22. Sir Edmund Hillary gave the person a BIG public serve on NZ and Australian TV.
