  1. I am thinking about buying one of these freestanding dehumidifiers, i have seen them advertised from about £100-£300 in Argos, John Lewis etc. Has any one had good or bad experiences with this type of thing. Are they quiet enough to run at night time, i would guess they sound like a fridge/fanheater ? ok i could open the windows but mine are either closed or open and don't have those small trickle vent slots that new double glazing units have. Thanks, Richard.
  2. Thanks for that reply Gillies, i'm learning all the time. Richard
  3. Not recieved anything here yet either  What a good marketing ploy though, if we all got the stuff weeks back we wouldn't still be thinking and posting about it
  4. Like many other i guess i started using a PC and got online with no knowledge of how things worked at all! I have been using Yahoo Mail for a good while now but one thing i still can't workout or find about is the phrase 'This e-mail is not flagged'.I have tryed looking in the help section of Yahoo but still can't seem to find what it means. I'm guessing that it is either some sort of 'Urgent' warning for the person who is getting the e-mail or that you can tell if your e-mail has been read or received by the person  Any help Please ! Thanks, Richard
  5. Yep ! and they eat small children and dogs and bite legs off cattle drinking at the waters edge
  6. My wife has a lovely pair of 'three-penny bits!' that are priceless !!
  7. Probably just a myth, this was once said about 50p coins and 1pound and other coins aswell i think. but i will be keeping an eye on this thread and the 2pound coins for a while
  8. Thanks for all those replys guys. me son was lucky enough only to just have shoulder ache for a day or two. He spend the best part of £1000 on good leathers boots gloves helmet and back protection inserts etc, the best he could efford, but where do you stop. By the looks of the scrapes etc on leathers they helped a lot. i have passed on your comments to him about safety courses and training days etc, but did you listen to your fathers ? He is going to find out about the duel compound Bridgestone tryes , he liked the sound of them. I will get back again on this thread , but i'm short on time this week, once agian thanks for the replys ,Richard.
  9. Hi Elton, i have also posted this on Sea fishing, then thought more people on this forum may of requested these lures too. I ordered the brochure and free sample pack of lures on 7th sept and i told a friend he he did the same, as yet nothing has turned up to either of us, i even resent details about 2 weeks back in case of a mistake. Has any one else recieved their sample packs from this offer yet ? We have just got some plastic baits from BassPro and some of that order could of gone to the UK company. I still want to try theses 'Super Jeltex' Pike lures. Just wondering if me and my mate are the only one's still waiting? Was it a limited offer  Or maybe they are flooded with A.N. requests? [ 07. October 2002, 10:03 AM: Message edited by: Richard Harvey ]
  10. My son has got his 1st motorbike , honda NSR125r. In his first 2000 miles he has come off the bike twice , both on roundabouts, once in the dry and once in the wet, he says he was going slow and easy but the bike just slipped away. Ok, his a learner but i have seen him out on his bike when i was driving my car and he was going steady. After the first spill i had a friend ride the bike to check it out and he said the tyres felt slipy on the corners , and he rides a 900cc race type bike, ( i'm not insured to ride motorbikes). When he got the bike it was 1 year old and had only done 750 miles from new, do you think the tryes could of hardened with low use?The tyres are checked and at handbook pressures. Some people on a bike site my son visits say the make of tyre he has on(fitted from new) is well dodgy, they are a well known make and i have the same make on my car and are thought of as very good car tyres, i won't mention the brand on here. We know about oil, diesel, rain, grit, painted lines etc on roundabouts etc and we know he's still got to gain experience as a rider. A number of people have told him to change the tyres for Bridgestone which they say are very good bike tyres. He wants to change them but at probably £100 each he wants to try to get it right. In my opinion as an old biker( from the passed)the tyres on these stye of bike don't seem to have proper tread, they are like slick race tyres with a few groves to make them road legal, probably great grip on a dry smooth and clean road. MotorCycle News talked about these style of 'Race' tyres as good when hot after a couple of laps of a race track ( after pre warming with heated covers) but on road use they take alot to warm them up at normal road speeds. If anyone can comment on the above or give me details of some kind of independant motorbike tyre tests ( all makers say their tyres are the best ) or personel experence i would be grateful as it worrys us each time he goes out on the bike. E-mail me if you don't want to post on here please at ##### Thanks ,Richard.

  13. Iv'e had quite a lot out lately on small rubber grubs but nothing over 2lbs for a long time. Have you looked at Steve Burkes PerchFisher site yet ,worth a look. http://www.tdvan.freeserve.co.uk/theperchfishers.htm Well Andy , do you think you have found a secret method or just a venue with lots of Big Perch [ 04. 14. Nice Perch Andy, on baits or lures?
  15. Hi Steeplejack, Tell us a bit more, what model # is the reel, look on your rod you use it on and tell us what weight rating (1-3oz?) and action ( L-M-H ?)is written on it. It could be the set up is not balanced for the size of lure you are using. Also the reel tensions may need easing off a bit and it's trying to slow the line down too much? Try casting some lead weight bombs of heavier weights to see if it feels better. This year i have started using a spincast reel which is a closed faced fixedspool reel that sits on top of the rod like a multiplier and you use a thumb button on rear of the reel to release the line on the cast. I found that on light lures on casting all the energy from the cast went into spinning the spool on the multipliers which ment the lure only went a short distance and many birdnests of line of the reel  . When i changed to the spincast reel the lure, even light lures just fly out on the cast.It might be worth you looking at one of these or borrow one to try if you can find some in UK using one They are made by ABU, Rhino Reels, Daiwa,Shakespear etc. Shimano do a small Bantam type of multipier which a lot of people use and like . My son has one , but again there comes a lower limit to the size of the lure it will cast a good distance. Maybe someone can add the casting weights ( Min) recommened for your Abu reel. I hope some of the above helps and gives you some new ideas, I'm sure others will add more on this one. When you said it's hard work i presume you mean alot of hardcasting to get any distance?
  16. Hi Newt, thats a great idea thanks and i have just done that after getting the exact hotel details etc, i had to get it sent 2 day air service ( due to short notice on address's etc )but that seemed very good value too. I will remember that next time someone is coming over and do it in more time so the package can be sent normal shipping. Thanks again for your help Even more lures to fill my garage i just can't help it!
  17. Hi, i need to ask for some help if possible please. I have a friend who is coming to the USA next week for 4-5 days. He is going to watch the 'Formula 1' Motor Racing at Indianapolis , Indiana over next weekend. He will have a bit of spare time and has said he would pick up some light fishing tackle bits ,mostly lures, spinnerbaits soft plastics etc. He said he is staying in Indianapolis and he thinks it is a large town/city? or maybe be it's motel type complex just for the Motor racing place? I'm not good on places either. Could anyone give me links to any online fishing tackle stores around that place, my friend doesn't know one end of a fishing hook from the other, so i would like to look online and make a small list of items for him to look for,for exmaple BassPro number all there items =product codes which i could give him to find. But i Don't think BassPro are there? Anyhelp is welcomed, e-mail me if you don't want to post here. Thank you in advance, Richard. [ 21. September 2002, 03:55 AM: Message edited by: Richard Harvey ]
  18. Hi Dave-H, Harris on 01692 581208 8.30am - 6.30pm Weekdays From the Harris range i would try a 'Northland Reed Runner' spinnerbait, Chartreuse Sunrise has been my best catching colour in these. Also to get you started on rubber/soft plastic baits they do the 'Mean Headhunters' which gives you one jighead and 3 shad type bodys, available in several lengths and with either a lighter plastic jig head for shallower waters and/or slower retieve or a metal head ( lead?) for deeper or faster retrieve. The spinnerbait and the jigheads have only one upturned hook which will make it less likely for you to snag them, which is also a help on your learning curve with lures. Theres so many lures Dave , but if you take some of all the above peoples advice and then ask Chris and Sue Harris then i don't think you can do much more to get yourself started in the right direction. By this time next year you will be giving others advice and probably heading back to the broads without your deadbaits Oh, and good luck! keep us posted
  19. Hi P Eye, You could go armed with some popping candy /space dust stuff as is mentioned in this thread from 'Non-Fishing chat' forum. Just leave a bowl of this crackling kids confectionary out side your bivvy before you sleep http://anglersnet.co.uk/cgi-bin/ubb/ultima...ic;f=6;t=003848
  20. Thanks Elton, I'm always up for some Free Lures Loads of Pike in the Baltic Sea off Sweden, they return to the fresh water rivers to spawn each year.
  21. I've been told that the American Signal crays are making it hard for our British crays to survive in some waters as they are more aggressive and larger and also they can carry disease so the E.A. were going to or have banned the use of them for bait to stop spread for the disease by people carrying them from water to water as live/deadbaits. 22. HI Polly, Take a look at hese for starters, if the link works OK, some of it's nature reserve, but you get the idea, lots of small pits dotted about. Richard. http://uk8.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=5...=25000&left.x=6 &left.y=9 [ 02. September 2002, 01:14 AM: Message edited by: Richard Harvey ]
  23. Hi Polly , it appears that that go-fish advert is either a wind-up or a missed printed phone number .The man who answered the phone said he was nothing to do with that advert . I have reported this to Elton as i think go-fish.co.uk is either linked to A.N. or owned/run by Elton aswell? Polly, i know there are several lakes around St.neots from what i can remember, Eynesbury may have lakes and the river Great Ouse , also Wyboston Lakes is at the juntion of the A1 at Eaton Ford. Eaton Socon ,Little Paxton from what i canremember has various Ex Gravel works lakes dotted about so you be surpirised how much local water you have around there. I have been trying to contact some old friends from that area by phone to find out more but i guess they have moved on now. Regards ,Richard.
  24. Thanks for the reply Polly, is it old age making you forget you started this thread ? LOL. I will give Angus a call soon and maybe go to fish it or look at it first. If i fish it i'll do a report on it and maybe a few digi photos aswell. I live about 30-40 mins from St.Neots so we could well meet up for a fish and chat some time.I usually fish lures or flys , but on the odd occasion will but a deadbait out on one rod -(Winter Time ) and spin with the second rod . Richard.
  25. Thanks for the 'Links' tips guys ! I'll try to remember them next time Richard.
