I once saw a sun fish caught at north cornwall,

it was caught on mackeral feathers. The anglers had spotted the sun fish and were casting at it and in the end suceeded in foul hooking it.

As I understand sun fish are filter feeders,feeding on plancton.

I believe the sunfish feeds on jellyfish actually.  And the fin does flap from side to side breaking the surface, we saw one last year.

that might explain them moving in the current (like jellyfish do) and moving/slapping there top fin to damage the jellyfish prior to eating???
