More money?? £20 to join, £29 to watch the films, do they think we are all made of money?

And how many AN "members" would there be if they had to pay £4.95 a month?

Wasting my breath I know, but we are in a recession, people are tightening their belts, EA licence goes up, fishing tickets go up, and still we are being asked to put our hands in our pockets for more, more and still more. Perhaps the AT should get out on the bank more and ask the anglers what they think (most have never heard of it), and then ask them for £20............."to safeguard the future of angling"

My instinctive view of all this? Angling was doing OK before all the "specialists" and those who want to organise us all got in to the act.

Sorry Mark, I see no signs of a threat to Fresh water angling, except where certain people have made it their business to raise the subject, and certain others have found it gives them a purpose in life.

Den,

I think you may be confusing the two organisations, or assuming that they are linked (or I'm reading it wrong).

Angling Trust is the lobbying/conservation/promotion body.

OnlineFishing.tv is a totally separate company, making angling programmes to show online, as well as showing some older programmes, such as Passion For Angling. They just happened to make a news bulletin about the Angling Trust.

If the TV thing doesn't appeal, I can understand, but anglers are paying a lot more for Sky TV packages these days and then complaining that there are no new angling programmes, so onlinefishing.tv fills a definite niche there.

TL,

Elton

P.S. I share similar views to you on certain other aspects of your post.

Den

Den,

its two seperate entities. AN is an angling forum for discussing angling matters.

Onlinefishing.tv has that aspect, but its principle role is as an online fishing tv cahnnel, and unfortunately these programmes cost money to make and produce. Horse and country though free does require a sky or virgin media box, you cannot get it on freeview so its not free at all.

At the end of the day no one is forcing you to join, and yes you are right that people are tightening their belts, but £4.95 a month is absolutely naff all. :P

And as Elton quite rightly says it has nothing to do with the AT other than having a programme on its formation on the channel.
