Steep banks and Rolling Leads

One thing that occurs to me is that if the carp are coming in this close ie swimming up the slope, then there are quite probably a lot more of them swimming around at the bottom of the slope picking up the food that has rolled down. Perhaps placing a bait here would be a better bet (a bit like fishing the bottom of the shelf on a canal).

If you want donut sinkers (leads) and have trouble getting them, you can get a mold from Here and pour your own.

I agree with David here.... the bottom of the slope would definately be my preference...
