Which fluorocarbon

I've been reading alot of negative comments about fluorocarbon, has anyone got any good news? What about Korda IQ or Gardner Subterfuge in the stiff versions?

IQ is alright for certain rigs, have used it with success on the method feeder. Seaguar is awesome stuff, as is it's sister Riverge. Seaguar for high B/S, Riverge for lower. More problems come about as a result of the knot rather than the line. Saying that, I think Berkley Vanish is absolute s***e and should be banned, it is that bad! Snaps like cotton on anything than takes a half decent run.

Fluorocarbon seems to be one of those *love it or hate it* items.

I use Drennan Fluoro Fly leader in 8lb (for Barbel) and it has never let me down.

I only use it with a mono mainline, using a braid mainline and fluoro hooklength is asking for trouble.

I use Seaguar for leader material when lure fishing in the tropics with a braid mainline. It's great stuff but expensive.

I completely agree with the comment about Vanish. That stuff is unusable and now I only use flouro's specifically formulated and sold as leader material.

Maybe I'm missing something but I just don't see the point of a flouro mainline.

I dont really see the point in using Fluro carbon in coarse fishing for anything other than "stiff" rigs?

I was thinking of using it for two things:

1: as part of a combi-rig

2: as a low visibilty, abrasion resistant trace as a replacement for leadcore or tubing
