SMARTCAST FISHFINDER

i've just bought the rf10e mobile station and used it for the first time yesterday.

as a feature/depth finder its excellent,as you wind the float in it gives you a perfect map of the lake bed,5 mins playing about with it and i knew exactly what was in front of me feature wise,i could'nt have got such detailed info with a marker float setup!

no complaints about the range, the float only weighs about an ounce and its not exactly areodynamic,i found i could get a signal as far as i could cast it.

i had a good read around a few forums before buying mine jeeps, the general opinion was the watch and the rod mounted versions weren't up to very much.....the mobile unit got a lot of good feedback though.

its a bit of an expensive replacement for a marker setup, but its far more accurate and a lot quicker with no spooking of fish so it suits a short session angler like me :)

I dunno. I have the original unit (with the larger base station) and a rod mount unit. Obviously the larger screen on the mobile unit is easier to use but the rod mount is great if you are moving around and it works pretty well.

Never tried the wrist watch version.

In any case, I certainly feel like the unit is well worth the cost for finding close-in detail.
