Damn and blast it.

Days like this are thankfully few and far between, however everyone has their fair share.

I turned up at the crack of dawn and found that all the bivvy boys on the good pegs, so i found a really fishy looking swim with overhanging trees and fallen trees in a shallow corner. There were several fish showing so i thought i was onto a winner.

I dropped loads of boilies and g/bait into a spot just next to an overhanging tree which i was sure held fish. I then set up a light crucian rig with a crystal waggler and first put in landed a massive........ gudgeon.

this was the sole appearance by any fish on a day where, as i found out later, no one was catching.

i knew in my heart of hearts that i was doing everything right, only the fish wernt feeding.

I came away quite annoyed but consoled myself with the fact that everyone struggled.

ah well, hope you all had a better weekend!

You should have gone to Peatling :D . It was fishing well yesterday, apparently 10 carp to 10lb came out of our favourite swim on the feeder, and I weighed a near 12lb carp caught on the float by the Malcolm island. There were even a few carp feeding on the surface.

chesters1:

i am a little amused with this university site ,look under crucian ,

Their "facts" re carp are also a bit misleading - they seem to think grass carp is just another variety, like mirror, leather etc.
