yoxer - I was pretty much agreeing with you but lets assume I had some blinding insight and a solution to all the worlds problems but no language.

 

Interesting but no way I could let you know what I'd learned unless we had some common and structured basis for communicating and if we did, I think it would constitute a language.

 

In fact, unless we shared a language, would I even be interested in other beings in my environment other than as a pet or threat?

 

My dog may well have a better and more accurate world view than I do but if so, I'll never know about it.
