so "recycling" companies dont send ships full of rubbish to india ,africa or china then? ,yes its recycling but not in the spirit of it ,nothing can be recycled and be green nor "save" the planet however you try.

i expect the words "sent away for recycling" was read differently by the person dishing out the contracts ,i expect in their mind eye lorries full of "material" all chugged (using some miracle fuel that pollutes nothing) to a nearby factory that turned all the crap into sparkling new stuff ,nope it chugged by the thousands of polluting lorries to a "factory" where it was crammed into containers then chugged to a dock (probably at the opposite end of the country) to go on a huge ship to a far away place (out of sight out of mind) where even dirtier lorries rushed it to dumping places where the poor can be poisoned removing anything worth having  saving the planet ? saving a lot of £ perhaps.

the councils fine people for not polluting the planet even more ,the councils say "were cleaning up" ,the "recycling" companies say "so are we" and it aint rubbish were talking about

I googled, it's all there if you want to look, lot's of folk are against this sort of practice, and you will see the Companies offering these trips to the rich, they are strictly for trophy hunters and not for food.

One site at BONOBO.TV Quotes....''Nearly 90% of all grizzly bears are cruelly killed by TROPHY HUNTERS...78% of British Columbians including the Indigenous people of Costal First Nation want the trophy hunting to stop.''

The article also describes how after a longwinters hibernation these bears are shot foraging for food to feed their cubs, so allowing the cubs to starve to death.

As in most cases money talks

If you can provide any support for your theory that these bears are probably eaten by these so called hunters I would be grateful.

I am in infrequent poster so I don't know all of the board's rules, but it appears my previous topic was "closed"? A couple of observations and follow up comments:

1. In Prince William Sound, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game requires that hunters salvage the meat from black bears up until June 1st. The black bear hunting season remains open until June 10, but meat is not required to be salvaged.

This was cut and pasted directly from kcedar's post. He was the chap that originally posted the video I take this info on trust. I dare say that a lot of animals are shot as trophies and not for the meat but I am not up on all of the regs throughout the US and Canada.

Right, I just had a look at the Alaska hunting regs http://wildlife.alaska.gov/regulations/pdfs/general.pdf It makes for interesting reading. Different regs apply to local people and native peoples.

I still don't support bear shooting especially for trophies, it would seem however that meat salvaging for human consumption from bears is a common (indeed, largely compulsory) requirement once an animal has been shot.

On top of that Black Bears are Cites 2 and there are restrictions on the sale of their component parts.

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

i never did find out what gas mark it was so probably it was left for the crows?

i'v often queried humans sense of reality ,take a drink (been on the market a couple of years now) its a "natural" drink (must be good ,hoorah ,cor and because its natural it has "green" credentials hoorah)

but this drink was made from a fruit not apples or pears or modified trees that can be orchardised (nice word) but fruit thats wild :o (yes!!!! "wild" that means were not deforesting hoorah ) but what happened to the animals that used to eat it ? what happened to the animals that ate them how does the tree propagate.

we have a drink we dont really need nor we naturally wouldnt ever see (the tree was foreign ofcourse) destroy a circle of life thats been there before we existed ,not so green really is it .

the natural world (including bears) needs no culling ,if you fear bears better its keep away from them IMHO ,if you like them (strangely this is a reason to kill them as well) shoot them on film .if theres too many bears nature will cull them they will then recycle as intended just like nature has in the 4 billion years the earth had before we came aboard :D

if you want to eat bears raise them on a bear farm where freedom is not naturally found or kill them stone dead on the spot and remove them for the freezer ,but ofcourse we dont need bear meat do we ,i'v existed 57 years without eating a drop and i survived ,you can simply not buy a gun, camo and a long trip to a forest and buy enough cow steaks for years surely?

and /or have a nice barbi eating cow steaks watching a film of bruin acting part of its life out (dont worry youl still be appreciated by your chums because you were there after all and unarmed) and then rest in bed knowing your bruin will be resting in his bed after telling his chums about the silly humans he saw.

"not a gun in sight" he maybe said " i let them film me ,i could have wandered over and growled threateningly or ran over and killed one ,but lifes to short i had my dinner to eat and the kids to raise " even prey have tales to tell and what they were you cant imagine when their nailed to your wall.

Just because the companies that advertise this hunting don't specify that all the meat is eaten, that doesn't mean to say that it isn't.

I wasn't being adversarial about the numbers quoted in your posts, but they did seem ridiculously high.

"Bonobo.tv: Life affirming programmes, films and music. Everything that appears in Bonobo.tv is there to remind the viewer of what is positive and beautiful ..."

A great source of unbiased information, its a tree huggers site.

Go and have a look at the Canadian Fish and Wildlife Agency websites (one per state), they will tell you ll about the licences, conditions, exams required , etc., regarding the shooting of wild creatures.

I would have thought that these bear safari companies would have jumped on anything that would have added something to their public approval column, but perhaps even turning the Bears into a Big Mac would not meet with public approval. maybe

Are 'they' ''Tree Huggers'' as you put it? Then good luck to the Tree Huggers if they help prevent another species from extinction from man's bullet .

I can't argue with any of that :)
