Love the press release that says it's owned by Portsmouth City Council and managed by Heritage, with a profit share going to both.

Has anything like this ever made a profit?

I appreciate your enthusiasm, John, but these kind of things just don't float my boat, especially when more deserving causes don't receive the lottery funding that this 'attraction' did.

It does look nice though, which is more than some of the other millenium follies.

Mind you, I also like the Millenium Bridge between Newcastle and Gateshead.

If I happen to be in Pompey I may well go have a look, but won't be knocking myself out.

The way our local news (South Today) goes on about the tower you would think that it is gonna end world poverty, feed the starving children and create over 1 billion pounds profit in the process. According to them it is simply the most fantastic thing ever built

Only time will tell.

When things like this are undertaken by council bodies I always wonder if it would be a viable private sector project, in this case no.

So who pays for the up keep while a few dozen people wander about it on a daily basis?
