Don't Tell Leon

And mudguards.

What about panniers for the beer? :)

Seriously though, you do need water bottles.

By the time you are feeling thirsty, you are already de-hydrated which makes you tired very quickly.

(You might even get the 'bonk' - http://www.bikeradar.com/fitness/article/beat-the-bonk-17082 )

Especially in Summer, and especially in hot weather, taking in plenty of fluids when cycling is essential.

Beer? I haven't drunk in over eight months :D

Mind you, you've never seen anyone put Cream Soda away in such quantities!

Don't waste your time with all that cycling malarkey, just stop drinking the cream soda.:bicycle:

As leon says, don't forget to take plenty of bottled water with you, but remember when you have finished it, just toss the bottles on to the grass verge like most of the other cyclists (we witness this regularly  )

The cream soda is zero everything (fat, carbs, etc). Basically, I drink vanilla flavoured fizzy water :D

The worst litter I see is empty fag packets. They're everywhere!

I had a cheque to pay in today, so decided to cycle into town. Only 8-9 mile round trip, but most enjoyable. Again, it didn't take that much longer than going by car.

I'm getting quite addicted to this biking thing already! I plan to extend my daily route next week.

One quick question - 14 stone (just under!) bloke on a mountain bike, going downhill and can't keep up with the cogs, even in 21st gear; how fast, roughly, would I be doing at that point?

I reckon you might be capable of nearly 40mph on the flat after a bit.

I found a 3 mile walk in 45 minutes each evening got it off me. I haven't done it since my knee trouble started and I'm back up to 16 stone.

I'm now off for my second walk of the day. That's the trouble owning a dog - I don't think the walk does me any good, as such, now. My body is used to it :(
