Fly fishing around Birmingham

I was talking to a chap tonight who used to do a lot of fly fishing. He's not done much in recent seasons and has been a bit discouraged of late after turning up at a couple of his opld haunts only to discover that they've been turned into carp puddles.

I tried to persuade him that the river is the place to fish but he was raised on stillwater fly fishing and wants to start back with that.

Can anyone recomend any smallish day ticket fly waters within 30 or 40 miles of Birmingham ?

Hi Ken,

you could also try Packington off A45 to Coventry. Most lakes are syndicate but there is one day ticket water. I go quite often and have never blanked, even had a nice brownie on saturday and I am rubbish. Reasonable prices too.

Good luck
