Highest gust in Orkney in last 15 min is 49 kts fm NW. On Orkney harbour remote weather station at South Ronaldsay.

Forecast giving gusts up to 60 kts in next 48 hrs.

Not too extreme for us.

Still blowing a hooley in Whitley Bay and it is chucking it down. 26 lorries on their side on the A1 just south of us! Carlisle cut off! Ferry blown onto a shingle bank at Stranraer!

Just phoned to check on my caravan at Drummore,it is not in the sea yet!

A friend at work lost his roof during the night. He lives between Liverpool and Maghull.

 

Some of the girls were very wary of walkingacross the footbridge here due to the strength of the gusts.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

Just spoke to my son who lives in Whitehaven,he has lost ridge tiles ,roof tiles ,fencing etc,said it was like a battle zone,chimney stacks in the gardens,then switched on the news and saw the pictures of Carlisle and surrounding area :(:(:(:(:( and all the flooding.....stil all are ok,and that is what matters!

reading all your posts makes me feel very lucky. the highest gust we had was 34.8mph. and we have only had 5.1mm rain in 24 hours!

You lot ought to move up here, the fishings great and the weather isn't as bad as where you are now
