John Wilson Avon Rod

Hi,

The rod is great but the slot where the reel sits seems to be too small for any of my reels .. even the match reels.

 

Any suggestions ??

 

I can use it and have caught many fish the rod is great

how can you use it...if you can't fit a reel on it?

I can just about but have to force it in and then secure it with some tape.

what reels are you using ? I have one, I've used it with my 'BJ' Centrepin, a shimano 5010 baitrunner, and a DAM match reel with no problems.

I have used john wilson ideal reel. and some other madels with I dont really know the names of lol.

 

Only reel wich has fitted was a browning aggressor reel but has since broke

 

Mabey I should buy better qual reels lol. Shimano baitrunner would be very nice but dont have the money at present

Okuma mate....and I'll bet they fit

I've got an Okuma baitrunner at home, I'll check the fit tonight and let you know if you want.

Right, tried my brothers Okuma Renegade RA30, which is a small baitrunner, and that fits fine as well. looks like my brother might not be getting that one back

i had the same problem mate centre pin no probs closed faced reels no probs for trotting.fixed spool reels and ledgering thats the problem i had to buy a new reel to fit for ledgering as well what plonker designed this rod "john bloody wilson" a reel fitting the next size up wouldnt have been too much to ask.on otherwise a cracking rod.
