  1. try http://www.baitsdirect.com not mustad but similar but you may have to bulk buy to cover postal charges.
  2. the lake you refer to is also known as barmston lake, a mixed coarse fishery which holds some big carp and pike, was free fishing until foxpond fisheries took it overearlier this year .i believe that you can still fish it on a day ticket £3.50 on the bank.but do check first as they will be removing the coarse fish out soon to make way for a trout fishery. for more info go to http://www.foxpondfishery.com

    cod?

the lower tyne is fishing well at the moment for codling averaging 1lb and a half with the odd fish to 4lb.lots of whiting as well im afraid, still, keeps the rod tips rattling i suppose
  4. most clubs runs 1 open competition every year to boost club funds which is fair enough.but im finding that some clubs are now being greedy and running 2 or 3 competitions now.which means every fortnight these opens are clashing causing entry numbers to be down for other club opens, as anglers are spread between opens.surely clubs should run 1 open and make sure the dates dont clash with other clubs.and let every club have there chance to boost their funds.
  5. http://www.fellingflyfishers.co.uk strange but true
  6. one night last year i fished for 4 hours without a bite, loaded the last of my worms on my hook and cast out and caught a 3lb cod.thinking typical fish are coming on, got no bait left.gutted the cod and tied some of the guts on my hook and recast got a further 2 about 1.5lb.has anybody else ever tried this and had any sucess.ill definitely try it again just got to catch the first fish of the session first. thats the only problem.
  7. so was i,translated. if being a b****** by saving a carp from being eaten by someone who would have taken one bite and probably threw it in the bin. then i was saying i was willing to be an even bigger b****** or any other name if it meant doing the same thing over again.i cant say too much for legal reasons, it isnt just hearsay as private proceedings may go ahead if the police dont prosecute .i am just telling anglers to be more vigilant as aledgelly this is not an isolated case of poaching. by the emails that i am receiving
  8. alright so my spelling isnt perfect i also spelt cormorant wrong in my first post. but he who threw the first stone jeepster what is jusy?
  9. no honestly, really i do believe i am the biggest fore mentioned person under our solar system even the entire solar system but then i suppose we will never know. unless you know different.
  10. no i am not a racist and by no means am i trying to incite any hatred against any foriegners to our land this only happened a few days ago and no press coverage of the occurence has been publicised that i know of.it does however come from a reliable source. i know the lake and also the nationality of the people in question.i dont know if any prossecutions will take place.all i am saying is i hope this is a one off from a few people that probably dont know the laws of our land.i once had to intervene when a person first time fishing and no fishing license from our shores was just about to hit a 15lb carp over the head because he thought it was his right that he had caught it he could eat it.it went back alive but i was the biggest b****** under the sun.
  11. just heard news of legal refugees being caught by police with a net and pegged out lines with 5 dead carp destined for the pot at a local lake in the north east i do hope this is a one off.and not repeated around the country.otherwise the commrants are the least of our worries.
  12. what area are you thinking of fishing. north of the tyne or south of the tyne or in the river tyne its self.rock fishing or beach fishing.daytime or night time?
  13. was he right on the size as well.was it actually 50" or 60" just to ease my troubled mind
  14. i didnt think they made a 60" one
  15. oh. that explains why the fishery missus looks like a punk rocker every time i see her. must play havoc with the washing machine all those hooks in her clothes
  16. ok so you lot have caught the only vegetarian eels in britain on sweetcorn. ive caught a few perch on bread flake that probably went for the movement of the bread through the water, but i wouldnt go eel or perch fishing with either bait. just go fishing and enjoy it. these are freshwater eels they dont bite theyre not congers .(now wait. theyll be umpteen replys from anglers being mauled and limbs bitten off by eels)
  17. fish with bread flake, bread punch or sweetcorn and your friend should avoid the eels ok.
  18. chester. i could take the water out by opening the drain but id have a lot of fish flapping about in mud and no way of putting water back in (i dont know the chants or the steps of a red indian rain dance) the old practice of clearing your own swim died out a long time ago when anglers decided to let others do the work and poach the swims when the work was done over 200 members in our club.when it comes to a work party 6 turn up probably the same in every club.it not only effects the carp anglers who get snapped off when the fish dive through the weed.but there is so much natural food in the weed the "ordinary fish" dont need to come out to look for mr maggot dangling off my hook.
  19. for a free guide to angling in the north of england call the environment agency general enquiry line 0845 9333111 an excellent 80 page booklet covering the north east and north west regions and covers coarse, trout and salmon fisheries
  20. soak your sweetcorn in liquid pellet the night before.when loose fed into the water you will see tiny oil slicks appear on the surface as the fish eat the sweetcorn and release the oil, this is a great visual indicator of fish in your swim and a great fish attractor
  21. youve only got to look at the rivers at low tide after a flattie bashing match to see the damage by anglers. loads of dead fish killed for a cash match.then at the end of the year when the catch rate drops.you hear all the moaning about the fishing being rubbish.then moving the venue to another river to do it all over again.or the anglers on the piers catching coalies or whiting and saying that,ll do for the cat or dog when i get home. nothing is said of the charter boats plundering wrecks of 1000lb of fish every week, only for it to sold round the pubs and clubs for beer money.we are all responsible not just the commercial fishermen for the state of our fishing.
  22. the chemical treatment was supposed to last for 3 years guaranteed or he would come back and treat again.he did return the fee of £300 but never returned "cowboy" dont think he knew what he was doing.
  23. anybody know where i can buy weak maggots from.the maggots im buying recently are such strong swimmers they keep pulling my float down every time
  24. in the north east we have the "tyneside anglers alliance" and the "wearside anglers alliance" both groups have seen the need to protect anglers fishing rights to local stretches of rivers and ponds. by negotiating with local councils, rents were agreed and then these fisheries were then leased out to local clubs for a small annual fee.any club belonging to the TAA or the WAA can then fish each others waters free.and are the major voice in the north east for north east coarse anglers fishing rights.
  25. arent all comittee members. ive e-mailed him anyway, our club has the funds but its like getting blood out of a stone, getting any money out of them to improve the ponds.but if it looks viable, ill bang a couple of heads together for the members sake.cheers
