Elton over the last couple of weeks the ling have been swarming which they do at this time every year and to be honest cod are allways a little thin on the ground in september its not that they aint there its just they are hard to catch with all the herring which are here at the momment but i get the feeling in the next few days as these big tides fall away the cod fishing is about to come back on i have had quite a few cod between 15-20lb this year on wrecks 2 to 3 mile from the shore so afew 20lb plus cod could be on the cards in the next few weeks.

Make sure you let us know when you get a big one. Might just inspire a few others to dust off their rods and get out there! :)

Theres been some really good cod fishing inshore at Whitby over the weekend for the few kayak lads who went uptiding, with the usual marks producing some good bags of cod, with a nice average size. This was taken by one of the lads who uses our forum.

That’s good news Paul and so did these lads fishing offshore by the looks of this short clip I found on u tube. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/redirec...v%3DhSnw_NvUTKE looks as if it’s been a good year all round then. Just need a good end to the year up tiding to keep the anglers flooding back to Whitby next year.

George has had some very good trips a very well done to him its been a very good year allround and the inshore wrecks have fished very well these fish were just out of casting range from the shore maybe one or two fish of this stamp will move just a little closer in for the uptiding festival.

Uptiding has a very similarity to shore fishing you are using a 6oz grip lead with a long trace and fishing in shallow water sometimes as shallow as 20ft the fight you get off a good size cod in shallow water can be a hell of a buzz to say the least december can throw the biggis out so we are hopeing with a bit of luck that somebody hits the jacpot with a cod over 20lb on my boat about 5 years ago we had a cod 28lb doing this sort of fishing in 60ft of water it would be great to see a fish of that magnitude caught in this competition but if its cod that turns you on this competition is the one at this time of year cod are the main fish which is caught throughout the competition there shouldnt be a ling in sight it is a cod only compettion except for the special prize of the biggist any other species.
