"IVAN COULD BECOME STRONGER THAN FORECAST. INDICATIONS ARE THAT THERE WILL BE A VERY DANGEROUS HURRICANE OVER THE NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA...WESTERN CUBA OR SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO IN FIVE DAYS."

"REGARDLESS OF THE EXACT UPS AND DOWNS IN THE INTENSITY...IVAN IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN A STRONG HURRICANE THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD...MOST LIKELY CATEGORY 4 BUT POSSIBLY REACHING CATEGORY 5 AT SOME POINTS."

Category 5 is as strong as it get's!

Current forecast track takes it right through Jamaica, then Cuba (before heading on to Southern Florida).

Not good places to be right now!

(Though it's hard to forecast exactly where it will go)

Well Ivan dropped in on the island of Granada

"We are terribly devastated, it's beyond imagination," said Grenada's prime minister, Keith Mitchell, from a Royal Navy warship helping with the rescue. "

"THE INTENSITY FORECAST ASSUMES THAT IVAN WILL COMPLETE THE CURRENT CYCLE BEFORE IT REACHES JAMAICA AND THUS INTENSIFY BEFORE HITTING THE ISLAND. FURTHER INTENSIFICATION IS LIKELY OVER THE WARM WATER BETWEEN JAMAICA AND CUBA IF THE STORM STRUCTURE REMAINS GOOD. "

:(

Good kite flying weather then!!!!!!!!!!!

All these worst weather on record reports make me pee myself with laughter.

Weather records go back less then 100 years.

The earth has been making weather for millions of years.

Mankind thinks it knows alot about this planet.

We know sod all.

The weather on this planet must have flactuated thousands of times since the earth was formed.

Scientists blame global warming for the change in weather. First they blamed spray cans, then factories, then vehicals, now they blame the paddy fields of Asia and cows!!!!!!!!!!!

We cannot change the weather or what mother nature intends to do.

As the dinosaurs were, we are only temporary guests of planet earth.

Hmmm!

Latest track seems that Ivan is going to conserve its strength by staying over water, avoiding most of Florida, so that the eventual depression heading Newt's way will still have plenty of weather for him.

What have you done to offend the gods Newt?

I'd suggest offering up a human sacrifice - well it's worth a try!

This was off the Here comes Francis thread originally posted by Leon. Auto-updates cloud formation. Anyway I got tired of searching through the old thread to look at it.

Ivan is back up to a category 5.

Category 5 hurricanes are pretty rare, and a bit special     :(
