Trout are the last thing I would use. Just the way they are reared fills me with horror...overcrowded etc. I think many fishery owners have regretted "puting a few trout in"

always used sardines once i found sprats were useless on the second cast.

theve always out fished any other frozen bait i have used .

dead fresh bait is a step up but live baits of course outfish them all.

sardines are great for twitching and get a response on all but the coldest day ,i always use them still frozen so i can take the remainder home for next time ,they can be refrozen about 3 times before they blow apart
