iPod or not?

If you only have 5gb of music then yes Peter, it would be more than enough, I have about 500gb of music on various drives, that's decades of vinyl and CD buying for you!

Depends how much of your music you feel the need to carry around with you - my iTunes library does not fit on my (16GB) iPhone, so when I sync it I sync certain playlists rather than everything.

That's the key question. I tend to have favourite albums and artists for a period of months and so tend to listen mainly to them. I do however quite like the 'random selection' or whatever it's called on the creative zen. It even appears to be semi intelligent so you don't get a heavy rock track followed by a quiet classical track.

 

For me I have a lot of old vinyl and CD's and my tastes have changed over the years so I wouldn't fancy listening to them all now. But being a typical hoarder, they're all stored in the loft 'just in case'

Looking at the Creative website I can't see anything bigger than 32GB which may be a little small for me. I'd want at least 60.

 

Also is the interface different on the Zen(could you use an iPod docking station)?

 

The 16gb Creative MX I bought for my daughter has a SD card slot but I don't think it can be used on an IPOD dock. She doesn't have or want one so no problem there.

Yes, but I bet most of it's crap I quite enjoy creating a compilation to play in my car according to the mood I'm in. I simply wouldn't want all the rubbish popping up all the time if it had everything and was set on random. If you have to burn the tracks you want onto a couple of CDs it concentrates the mind
