I hate the interweb! I looked here and thought that the £135 one would do. Collect @ Store only, but no worries.....well, it wouldn't be if any store had them!

 

I think I'll end up going for that Tesco one.

 

I did look in my local Tesco and they were advertising a 2gb eMachines one for £299 (bit more than I want to spend). However, all bar one of them were 1gb machines according to the actually packaging! Seeing as many members of the public don't have a clue what they're buying, I thought that was outrageous!!

If you watch the video on the PCWorld site comparing netbooks and laptops, the netbook has a big red cross next to "Document Creation" (amongst a lot of other big red crosses!)

This page on the Acer site shows their one coming with either MS Office or OpenOffice, so I'm assuming they'll be okay.

Now I'm more confused.

 

I just got an email to say that this Acer was on offer.

 

However, it says the following on the spec sheet:

 

PC Compatible NO

 

Does that mean I couldn't install OpenOffice on it?

FFS! According to the Acer site, it already has OpenOffice:

In short, what differences would I expect between a Linux and a Windows machine?
