Thank you and lets hope so! :)

Terry - I like the sound of that!! Bring on the Chub. I couldnt believe how big it's mouth was for such a small fish!

Another thing to think about Stooby is the fact you caught it in a stillwater. Stillwaters can produce huge Chub, because they don't have to expend as much energy as they would in flowing water.

That could be your target for the coming months. Catching bigger stillwater chub.

Now that's just showing off! :)

Seriously though - what a super fish.

He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days without taking a fish. (Hemingway - The old man and the sea)

Thats interesting to know, and I think still water chub have just joined the list along with Tench for the coming months! :) I'll be sure to post any bigger ones right on AN!!

Do you have to use different techniques to catch Still water Chub than in the river? do they spook just as easily? I know in rivers, Chub usually rest in the edges of slower slack water that adjoin the faster moving water, but in Still water you dont have that? any tips on how to target them in still water?

Cheers,

Stooby...

Peter Stone used to catch them from the Oxfordshire pits on small deadbaits. I'd try a small deadbait in the margins at dawn or dusk or better still into darkness if you are allowed?

No night fishing allowed on this site unfortuantely, however I can fish until Dusk, so that could be the way forward!

Are Chub generally bottom feeders?

Cheers,
