Old wicker fishing basket

Saw a old wicker fishing basket that was in good nick at a carboot sale.

It was going for a fiver but i would not have been able to fit it in the car due to other stuff.

Are they sought after these days?

It brought back a few memories.

Ill probably regret not buying it now.

They still make them where I live-(Somerset levels)

 

Don't know how much they are though.

don't regret not buying it as you thought it was old. I have been down this road before and the old ones that have been used rot after a few years.

Regret it because it was nice and you could have seen yourself using it.

 

And yes you guys I am still alive, just one the Sea section most of the time.

i bought one on the spur of the moment years ago (to relive youth etc) the thing infected the house with woodworm (SHOULD have looked closer) after a year it was half the weight as all the inside of the whicker (or cane/reed :confused: )was hollow due to the burrowing antics of the little darlings :mad:

No Tyke you are missing the point. If you want plastic that will last a life time then go for it.

If you want Bamboo or Willow that will last 10 years and looks the part then go for it.

If you are happy with a carrier bag then go for it.

My point was that there is no such thing as an antique fish basket, they just rotted away.

Next time, leave the wife at the market and pick her up later if there is no room in the car for her
