Always used mono for pike deadbaiting thinking of changing to braid as a couple of friends have recommended it.  What is the best weight of braid to use.

Nice thing about using 50lb stuff is you avoid those embarassing 'crack-offs' when you give the rod the occasionally bit of wellie. A 4-6oz deadbait stopping dead at about 60 mph can snap fine braid like cotton. Never used Spiderwire in the heavier bs Andy, but I use it for ultralite in 10/20lb and I have a lot of faith in it. Power Pro is just as good. Dont be tempted to buy cheap braid, its usually cheap for a reason.

Argyll, I do uses the Spiderweire in the 10/20lb in feeder fishing which also I have faith in, as I did used it for the first time on the River Itchen for the "Grayling bashing" when using the feeder.

Never have used Power Pro (so I can't compared what it like when most of my spools are loaded with Spiderwire). Stick to the brand if you feel condfident in as in is down to trial and error.

Absolutely Andy, I've used both. The Spiderwire I prefer is called Spiderwire Spiderline, comes in a red packet. Not too dissimilar to Power Pro.
