Lure fishing

OK Peter you're right. It has got that lill ole lip. As you say, OK in shallow waters.

I prefer to use the Heddon MossBoss which can be fished on the surface or allowed to sink slowly and fished well sub-surface, even long the bottom if you give it time to get down.

Either way, personally I don't think the Meadow Mouse would be what I'd suggest to a novice lure angler at this time of year on the Leeds & Lancs Canal though.

You're more than a tad spoilt on them there old Norfolk Broads, boy

Oh, and Tony said "" can you recommend a couple to try"" so I stuck to two!

Hi Tony,

I lurefish the Canal regularly and in fact have a few spare Rapalas (Unused!) if you're interested.

Husky Jerk in Roach pattern has been my most succesful lure on the cut.

We could meet up for a few hours around Horrocks if you fancy it?

On the old L&L I've caught in the Keighley and Bingley stretches using small ondex, midi S in orange and green but I can't wait to try some 3" grubs made by softbaits (brochure can be found on here)I had some fantastic fun with them in Barbados for tarpon, and even had a very strange eel, which should interest you tony, especially for a certain bit of canal we discussed before.

Needle fish loved them as did some ugly thing which I haven't got a clue of a name for

Personally I can't wait to try them out on the cut.

(PS the eel was white with sand coloured marking, it kept digging itself into the sand, it had a pair of fangs a bit like a snake......scared by *%U^less)
