Just had a smashing days grayling fishing,11 grayling and countless brown trout.If you have a river that holds grayling nearbye then get out there your missing something special.

I catch a lot of rainbow trout on my river but earlier this year i pulled out my first grayling. About 1.5lb. They are in there but they are few and the introduction of bait brings in shoals of rainbows! I mite buy a fly set up just to fish for them.

Nice one BBB... a good haul of grayling! The most I've managed this year was 9 in a session.

 

Were you fishing to sighted fish or long trotting?

The gravel pits on the calder are giving up some great bags of Grayling . . the calder championships second place went to a 14 year old angler in september who managed to bag 18 grayling in a five hour match . .

Bradford Angler, are you serious about the grayling being in still water gravell pitts,

 

If so do these pitts have any link to the river (ie moving water)are the fish introduced or did they occur naturally and are they breeding.

 

There was a big debate a year ago about still water grayling and i'd be interested to hear your answer.

Looks like my next grayling trip is going to be next year now (Jan) ...mind you, I might manage just one last trp to the kennet if the water clears up, but I'm not going to try holding my breath while I wait

The last grayling I caught,many years ago were on the upper Glen and Gwash in Lincolnshire.I'd love another go at them.If anyone can advise where to head for within reasonably easy travelling distance from Grantham I'd appreciate it.
