  1. I got it in the end. I went into the programme files and did a lot of deleting of programmes I've not used for ages, Outlook now works fine. Someone told me something could be running in the backgound that was causing the problem. I haven't got a clue what it was but after being a little bit ruthless in deleting programmes the computer is a lot faster and problem solved. Thanks again for your help
  2. Andy, no, the updates have all been done. Thanks for your help everyone, much appreciated.
  3. Nick, thanks for that, it now works fine.Norton is the one I use to do a regular scan but I also have Zone Alarm and Windows Firewall. I also do a regular scan with Webroot. Anything else you could suggest?
  4. Hello all, I'm having problems with Outlook Express freezing after typing a few letters. The cursor can't be moved and I end up having to unplug the computer at the mains. Everything else is ok, I also use Hotmail which is fine, Im just having this problem with Outlook. Norton is installed and up to date, nothing has been picked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I must agree with Lee on this one and the local anglers I know who can no longer fish there who are obviously not included in the "whole deal". I've fished the stretch on and off since the mid 1980's, not so much nowadays but I've sent a lot of people there to catch their first Trent barbel. One lad I sent there had seventeen fish on his first night. It really is a shame it's gone but what disturbs me more is what's to come.
  6. Fred, I remember reading your dads book a long while ago when he used cockles on "Twitchalot" and Owls Pit.If my memory serves me correctly he didn't have a great deal of success on them at the time of writing, did they subsequently prove any more successful? I recall that the first night he used them he could only get them in jars, didn't seem very impressed. It was a brilliant book though, how's he doing these days?
  7. Lee, You'll no doubt be pleased to know the society is alive and well."The King" actually bought me a pint last night, probably due to the fact he'd won a hundred quid on the bonus ball. Happy Days.
  8. Just a question we were talking about in the pub tonight, are there any multi species groups still going? Nowadays there seems to be any amount of single species groups, just wondered if there were any left.

  10. Are they ok generally?.I need a new bivvy for late summer, autumn use for zander fishing and I'd decided to get one.
  11. Obviously the the rougher it gets the harder they are to use and if you get them over at an angle when they're loaded they would tip over pretty easily. The main reason I got mine was if I had to go a mile or two to a swim with enough gear for a couple of days.I mainly use it on hard tracks or flattish grass. For this they're perfect.I wouldn't fancy pushing it far over rough ground.
  12. I bought the three wheel version for fishing the Nene and must admit they are very good.Lateley I've been taking somone barbel fishing with me who's recovering from a heart attack, not allowed to carry anything and it's been invaluable, two lots of gear go on it without any problem. If you do get one, get the one with the rear wheels, they're virtually effortless to push.
  13. On the other hand which was the last thing you bought but were really impressed with?Aqua brollies, absolutely brilliant.
  14. The last grayling I caught, many years ago were on the upper Glen and Gwash in Lincolnshire.I'd love another go at them.If anyone can advise where to head for within reasonably easy travelling distance from Grantham I'd appreciate it.
  15. I've just got back from the Trent where the level was spot on but just a bit too much rubbish coming down, only just too much though.A shame as there were a few good fish rolling.
  16. Two of the local lure anglers I know swear by red/white and yellow. From my own experience the best results have been on a black/silver magna strike grandma.
  17. I normally use 12lb but I can see the point of using 15lb as the line can come under a lot of stress, especially as I do use a mobile approach on the drains where a lot of recasting is involved. It's just to be on the safe side I suppose as each lost fish is potentially dead.
  18. I only use floats. There's nothing more boring than sitting behind buzzers when pike fishing.
  19. Totally agree. As far as the fen fishing is concerned I just hope we don't have too much rain.
  20. Warren, Mackeral and herring have been the most consistant baits fished hard on the bottom.
  21. Sorry, forgot to reply about the perch. No,I've never had any but the tackle is probably a little coarse.
  22. Hello Steve, The baits are normally just over the counter Morrisons.I do use traces, generally Drennan 20lb,as obviously on the fen you get your share of pike as well.I normally adopt a mobile approach with floats, fishing static baits under them, giving each swim probably forty five minutes.Once a fish is caught I'll sit on it for a while as I,ve found the zander can be very localised with a lot of the drain seemingly fishless. What has surprised me is the average size on seabaits,I can't recall one under eight pounds and I've had them to over fourteen.
  23. At first,no,I wasn't actively targetting them, regarding it to be a fluke.Over the years though it happened a lot more often and these days I catch most of my winter zander on herring, mackeral and sardine. This is all winter daytime fishing,a mobile approach with floats.
  24. I read in the AT ths week the normal stories of zander fishing being best at night on fresh natural baits,I've often found the reverse to be true especially in winter where I've had my best results in the day and on seabaits, the average size being high.In fact it wouldn't bother me in winter if I had no naturals.Anyone else with similar experiences?
