Which record fish?

It went crazy for the first minute or two and then just cruised about in the hole below me before seeming to give up the ghost - right up till the moment that I touched it.

Lots of swearing obviously followed but at least it slipped the hook and I didn't leave it trailing tackle.

Needless to say, If ever I get a chance to visit the area again I'll be taking some coarse tackle, some hemp and a couple of tins of meat.

I've caught and weighed plenty of chub between 4 and five pounds in the UK but this thing dwarfed them, it was almost twice the length of the biggest chub I've caught in British waters.

I remember reading the AT back in the mid 80's. They ran an article about 14lb chub swimming about in the rivers of the former Yugoslavia and I dismissed it as a fantasy along with the tails of 80lb pike. Now I'm not so sure about the chub and I gather that the Italian pike record is MOST IMPRESSIVE !!!!

Maybe its the warmer water.
