If I was you I would get a float rod,a tub of maggots and go fishing for small fish! This will teach you about feeding and once you've sussed it you will then be able to apply all this knowledge to feeding whilst fishing for other species and even big carp.

 

A few years doing this will teach you a lot quicker than a life time of sitting behind some carp rigs.

 

Sorry but that's the way to learn as there is no text book answer or at least not a simple equation to work it out! All the bait and gear can be brought these days but I'm afraid practical experience cant.

 

Sounds harsh? I'm afraid the truth is.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

In all honesty I do use Boilie / dunbell pellets on the hair with a pva bag containing loads of types and sizes of pellets (timebomb method) and have caught plently of carp from different venues.

 

Carp do seem to be suckers for the that method.

Are you sure you want to take Boilies?

 

I'm just wondering by your initial question whether you have used them often before and wonder are they the best bait for the water that you plan to fish.

 

Boilies can be a great bait, but not the only one that will catch you Carp.

It is a new water to me so I was going to keep my options open as to bait by taking a bit of everything but 210 seems a bit exact what if I cast one extra time or catch an extra fish than my three a day this would then mean less freebies for my other casts is that based on two or three rods

I have been fishing 18 years only started carp fishing last couple of years never been for a week just needed some kind of idea

I would take what ever you use in a standard day X the amount of days you are going and then add a little bit more for just incase. That way you should be covered for most situations. I always bring much more bait then I ever intend to use, as you never know, it could be one of those trips for want of a better term "when they are aaaaving it, big time"

I did that once when I went away for a week. A tough, and messy way to fish, but we caught a fair few fish doing it. I wouldn't do that now as it's too much like hard work, plus where I fish there is a freezer on site - or if it's abroad I take baits I know will last that long, or take ready mades.

Yes 210 is a bit exact (I dont mean sit and count them out!!!) but it is a starting point Without knowing the water, how it fishes, numbers of carp etc etc as your original question is a how long is a pice of string type question.

One thing I have found over the years is that fishing for a bite a time rather than trying to plan for a whole session usualy results in a few fish on the bank and that is what my answer is based on.
