Dogman, I can only refer to last years Chatsworth.

Yes, Used Tackle was there, lots of cheap stuff called Carp This, Carp That and Carp The Other, relying on the fact that one or two carp anglers are a tad gullible!

Perhaps calling it Bream This, Bream That and Bream The Other wouldn't generate quite the same sales appeal!!

But against that there were plenty of quality outlets selling to discerning pikers, fluff chuckers, barbel anglers etc. In other words there was loads of very welcome choice!

The Carp fraternity must have been there in force judging by the bales of Realtree Advantage jackets that were being sold like there was no tommorow.

The beach anglers were there showing people how to cast two hundred yards and more. I'm not one of them, but it was incredible to watch the ease by which these guys lob 4oz to the horizon! Another string to my bow so to speak. Ideal if I hear of a big pike, or carp, being caught in Essex, (I live in Suffolk :D ).

Other than the CA marquee everywhere was busy, and everybody appeared to be enjoying that choice.

I was not a fluff chucker but I enjoyed that side of the show. Something totally new to me and I learnt a great deal. I now chuck fluff for pike, mullet and bass, thanks to last years show!

Chatsworth isn't just about cheap, crap (as in crap!) tackle.

I'm hoping to get there this year and combine the trip with an hour's fluff-flinging on the Derwent at Darley Dale :)

Anyone know what time it kicks off of a morning and when is best to avoid the crowds?

Cheers

PS I will be wearing my Shimano Tribal Realtree jacket because it is the best trout-stalking jacket I have found, waterproof, well placed pockets, lots of arm mobility...not just for carp!

Unfortunately I won’t be going myself, as I’ve got to attend work parties on both days :(

Dave Havers from Tackle bargains.co.uk has a stall at the show. As a valued supporter of Anglers’ Net, it would be *very* nice if AN regulars in attendance could pop in and say hi

Cheers…

Sadly I have to say I won't be going to Chatsworth even though it is only 20 miles from me, I've been a regular visitor over the years but in my opinion it gets worse every year, the last couple of years especially.

It now just seems that most of the coursefishing stalls are selling identical cheap far eastern made rubbish.

The gamefishing side of the fair doesn't seem too bad, still selling quality gear at reasonable prices.

If you're going to meet freinds and have a sociable day out it's OK, but the tackle trade side of things is poor.

well I went . . it rained and then stopped for a while . . that was about the best thing I can say for it.

It is was very fluffy at one end with a few coarse stalls at the other.

In the 5 years I have been going - it is the 1st time when I have asked for something they didn;t have no one said "ang on a minute I'll look in the van" today no-one said it. In fact the standard answer was soz mate sold of em !

either there were loads of folk between 8:30 and 9:15 or it hasn't got the following it had

hey waddaya know I can spell tomato !

It rained and it rained and it rained, but who heard of an angler who was worried about rain!!!

Deals abounded, for example Badger Sounion reels for £20!!!!! I could have spent a fortune. But it was buyer beware. I had bought some field-boots last year, for £29.00. Great, over the moon with them. On offer for £50.00 on a well known personality's tackle stand.

Matt Hayes range of rods looked good, especially the lure rods. If I were buying then I would have been tempted, seriously tempted by his jerk-bait rod!

It was good to talk to such as Matt, Barrie Rickards, Nuddy (lovely man), and a bloke called Ball about carp! He was showing a presentation that for bream must be the ultimate! Yep, there were some good demonstrations for those of us who have something to learn, and it was humbling to see a young fella use the Wallis Cast as if it was his second nature!
