Welcome to Anglers net, I'm sure that some east anglian anglers will post here soon and answer your questions more fully than I can. The only fishing i have done in suffolk is on the suffolk stour around Nayland. I also know there are some good spots around Sudbury. There is a day ticket fishing lake at the golf course in Stoke by Nayland that is supposed to be good. as i say I'm sure that there will be more posts soon. best of luck. :)

take a look at my blog

Welcome John

As I live just outside of Felixstowe and I am a bit of an allrounder I should know a few spots.

Breakaway pits at Melton.

Match lake - Carp,bream,roach,tench,rudd

Specimen lake - Carp,tench,bream,pike,roach

Gravel pit, Kesgrave - mixed

Tickets for both from Breakaway tackle or from machine at Melton but check for match dates.

Trimley carp lakes, Trimley st Martin

Bream, roach, tench and carp.

A good water for the Carp novice.

Tickets from Tackle up, Walton, Felixstowe

Suffolk water park. Gt Blackenham

Several ponds/lakes - something for everyone.

There is an approval coach at this complex, well

worth a half day lesson.

Gipping angling and preservation society (GAPS)

Ask for number in any tackle shop.

A very big club.

Several lakes/pits/ponds and a big strech of river gipping.

River Gipping.

From the Town to sugar beat factory - council collect day ticket money on bank.

From factory until railway bridge north of sproughton, Gaps day ticket (1.00 per day!)

from breakaway bramford road.

Quiet fishery - Creeting st Peter (nr Stowmarket)

Suicide fishery. Loads of carp and bream.

Needham lake. Needham

mixed day ticket.

THE BEST CLUB IN SUFFOLK

Ladywood angling club. Nacton

(I am a founder member)

Some of the best mixed fishing in Suffolk in absolute dream setting.

99 per cent of my angling done at ladywood venues, mainly ladywood.

Waiting list over a year 01473 726509 Derek Moore.

do yourself a favour and get your name on the list.

Swale pit (BT PIT) Martlesham

Mixed pit - tickets from Markhams tackle.

Alton water.

A massive mad made water.

Pike, perch, roach,rudd, eels, bream.

The lemons best for bream fishing

NOT for the faint hearted.

There are many many more and I would suggest you buy a copy of John Wilsons Guide to fishing in Norfolk and Suffolk. (not the correct title but something like that).

There are hundreds of venues in there.

I would also suggest having a chat with your local tackle dealer.

Markhams - Ipswich

Breakaway - Ipswich

Birds - Claydon

Viscount - Ipswich

Tackle up - Felixstowe

You could even visit the venues and ask the anglers.

Best of luck.

There are a number of worked out gravel pits along the Gipping.

The Gipping is a bit small but much loved by the Pike followers.

GAPS rule along here.

The Stour has a multititude of clubs along it enquire at a tackle shop. Good coarse fishing just about anywhere along this river. The upper half of the river has some glorious small stream sections.

The Waveney's best waters are dominated by the Cherry tree Club. Another superb small coarse river.

The Lark is a rather small but the nearby Blackwater is surprisingly good. Again some gravel pits for fishing.

The Ouse is a tempting river but hard to access at the most promising bits. Gravel pits towards the coast.

There are a number of gravel pits in along the eastern side on the sandlings.

John Wilson's book is a good starter for the area. But the coverage of Suffolk is less accurate than that of Norfolk. You need to contrast the ticket cost with what each venue offers.

Tackle shops are in the Yellow pages but do check out the stock at Birds in Blakenham.

If you want more detail on a specific area I can give further info.

Many thank to all of you that have relpied to my post.

I am hopefully going to give the match lake at Melton pits a try on Sunday providing there is no match on otherwise one of the other venues will be tried. And i think a half days tuition has got to be booked in the near future at Suffolk water park ( thanks for the tips Rudd )

Once again thanks for the advise

If you travel a few miles north of Melton Pits you'll find the village of Sutton and just a little further a gem of an intimate water call Loam Ponds.

Crucians, tench, bream and the odd carp. Nothing massive but fantastic atmosphere.

Either join Woodbridge AC or day tickets available from Stuart Clay Traps in Melton.

Cheers

Andy

There is a waiting list but you may get in a bit quicker if you are a junior.

55 pounds a year for 2 venues and 4 mixed lakes (3 at nacton and one at levington, all year fishing.

There are 20lb+ carp at levington never caught!!!!!!

22lber came out last week.

Thanks to all that have posted help for me.

Mainly thanks to Rudd the decision has been made.

It is going to be Suffolk Water park on sunday.

Having spoken to the people down there it seems the best option as the Match Lake at Melton has a match.

Once again many thanks to all of you all I need to do now is catch some fish again.

Ps

Has anyone any tips for groundbait to use there, i not looking to catch any specific species.

I already have some sillybaits balck groundbait but got this ready fo the river gipping when it opens.
