Drennan Super Specialist Hooks

Please can anyone help me with any information about these hooks.

First off I like them but I am using them for tying flies on not for carp fishing. They are very strong, forged and reversed, short shanked with straight ring eyes.

My questions are:

Who makes them?

Are they available in bulk?

Does whoever makes them, make the same hook but with a slightly longer shank?

Any information at all would be a great help to me.

Thanks in advance.

so far as I am aware they come as you see them, they don't come in a longer shank but could be wrong. They are made by drennan, and I did find a website that you could buy them in bulk but cannot remember it, I'll have another look and get back to you,

I use Drennan super specialists for coarse fishing.

A better alternative,if you want a longer shank for flytying,is Kamasan B175s which are available on mail ordefr for as little as £ 4.50 per hundred and are one of the most widely used flytying hooks. They are also hugely popular for Carp fishing.Lee Jackson caught his record fish on this hook or it's Teflon coated equivalent,I believe.

Drennan also do their own such as Wet fly supreme etc.

Good luck

I love Drennan super specialist hooks.

If you want them in bulk ask your local drennan dealer or give drennan a ring.

For longer shanks you could try Esp raptor barbless carp hooks which are also made by drennan.

They are very similer to the DSS hooks apart from they have longer shanks and are a dark colour.

Oh! I thought they were made elsewhere and Drennan badged them up. I'm impressed if they make them because I thought all hooks except Sprite (Redditch) were foreign.

I'd be most grateful for the website url.

Thanks

Partridge hooks are made in the UK.Redditch again. Most British hooks are/were made there. It was an obvious follow on to the needle making industry based there. There you go a bit of tackle history for you!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I'm fairly sure that Drennan hooks are made by Kamasan.

I've bought them in boxes of 50,but not often,(probably just been in the wrong shops).
