Thanks for all of the replies and info you've posted for me, it will all be used I can assure you. Thanks also to those who have e-mailed me information, I have now replied to all.

Does anyone have any info on Grayling fishing for the lakes area at all, I have found reference to them in the Eden and its tributaries but alas information is a little sketchy. And what are the prospects for Perch?

Perch Fishing is good on Windermere.

Grayling are abundant in the Eden which is a River that truly lives up to it's name!

There's a pocket book around called "Anglers Guide to the Lake District" written by James Holgate from P&P and some other guy. It's a good starting point for fishing in the Lakes.

If you are going to be near barrow in furness ? If so there are some good perch waters nearby , in dalton ,or at least there were when i lived there in the late 80s , got my 1st 2 pounder there.

Ulverston canal is great for tench , but get a rake !Theres also a good wee water for bream in a village close by , but i've forgotten its name....doh.

The James Holgate & Geoff Parkinson book is a bit out of date now, try this book:
