Funny, I always thought the EA was there to help us. I went fishing today (I know, lousy weather etc.) on the Severn at Sandhurst, doing quite well too. Along comes this EA van and opened the locks(?)on the Sandhurst Stream (river?) and allowed all the rubish out, and I mean RUBBISH, ther was old footballs, car wheels complete with tyres, limbs from trees between 4" and 6" diameter which completely ruined the fishing. The best is, when they saw me packing up, they stood there laughing.

I feel that you were unfortunately in one of those wrong place wrong time situations, although the attitude of these men was out of order they do have a responsibility to maintain the rivers and the equipment.

I was on the Avon on Saturday and one of the bridges was all snarled up with the same type of rubbish that you describe, in fact I am wondering if it was the same stuff, as you know the Avon runs into the Severn. I remember thinking that this rubbish should be cleared, but hard luck on any anglers down stream.

Speak to your local EA office in the morning, Make your complaint known, this is important. If you don't they will think everything is rosy. You may even be surprised by their response. Let us know how you get on.

These guys must have known there would be a load of crap released when they opened the gates. It might have been more to the point if they had cleaned up before opening up. I agree with Alan. If you are a member of the ACA then give them a bell, it is pollution.
