I tried, but I can't let the idea of elvers following the jet stream go without a comment. Maybe that's why the scientists can't find them!

 

Wasn't there a belief in the Middle Ages that elvers, like baby frogs, fell in showers of rain? - perhaps Dant is right after all :rolleyes:

 

On a more serious note, I have seen a good elver run on one of my rivers this spring.

 

..and on two rivers this last month I have been plagued with bootlaces.

I watched what looked to be a very healthy run on the Ribble last year. Sorry i didnt count them as watching hundreds of them riddle over a weir in 5 mins was enough to depress me.

Just another point re the Kent lakes I fish, I had a stack of eels last season (not doing to bad with them this year either :wallbash: ) but no little bootlaces or under a pound or so.
