Okuma Multipliers and Baitcasters

I bought a new Okuma NS200 bait caster multiplier from a tackle shop 120 miles away, When I got it home I found it was a right hand wind!

I've been trying to shift it ever since on ebay for £40 but you can have it for £30 if you like.

I ordered myself a ID-250LX yesterday.

I have a South Bent rod that will partner it nicely for light beach fishing but I'm shopping for a nice short baitcaster/jerkbait rod to go with it. I have my eye on the TFG Brute but it's not a done deal just yet.

Hey Rob,

I recently bought an Okuma Nitryx x-250LX. Ive used it for piking. It was a bit of a pain at first (nesting every cast) but after a bit of adjustment it works very well indeed and for £25 its just the ticket and good value for money. Just checked in this months sea angler, only £20 at N.W. Angling at Hindley (Bu**er!!! Ive been robbed of a fiver!!!!!) :-)

The low profile,Quantum reel had magnetic braking and a "flipping" bar and to be honest I couldnt fault it.

The wife got me one of these sent over from the US for my birthday this year, cracking little reel with level wind, not sure if its the same model, it is gold with grey plastic handles. I would rate it at 40lb class max, though it could handle more, I use it for bass plugging ,pike work and short uptride flicks over shallow ground. I even prefer it to my penn level wind :o

My new Okuma reel arrived yesterday. Size wise it's about the same as an ABU 5601 but being solid alloy, it's a bit heavier. It balances up nicely with my 20 - 60g Loomis and Fraklin baitcasting rod and feels every bit the quality biece of kit and very much like the Calcutta 151 that I had on the rod before. I'll be spooling it up and trying it soon but first impressions are that it was a steel at £30.
