StuartR:

I have an idea that would avoidd all the cock up with the Inland Revenue.

Why don't people support their own kids and not expect hand outs?

Errr, Stuart, I'm not sure I understand what you are implying.

Are you saying that although I've had huge deductions in my wages since the beginning of April I shouldn't expect monies owing to me via the Child Tax Credit??

StuartR:

I'm saying why do you believe that you are owed any money simply for having children. you're not the only person having huge deductions form your pay.

I suppose that depends on what you call huge!

The idea of the Child Tax Credit is that the money is deducted from my wages and is payed to the (my) childrens mother (my wife), who incidentally, shares the same bank account as me!

The fact of the matter is that they've been deducting my wages since the beginning of April, yet my wife/children have yet to see any of it!!!

Don't you see, it's my wife and children that are loosing out, not me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuart and yoxer

When its not as if we are getting massive hand outs like the illegal immigrants or the unemployed.

The computer worked out that me and my wife are entitled to the massive sum of

GB585 per year!!!!!!!!

Thats 48.75 per month

or 11.25 per week.

Doesnt even pay for a weeks supply of nappies.

Last year the credits were worked out on the amount you earned (tax code on your wage slip) and the amount of tax taken was reduced therefore bumping up your wages.

This way is supposed to save the revenue millions of pounds. I saved tax on my salary and all overtime because of my tax code but now we only get tax credit on our fixed salary.

When you have kids and all the expense that goes with them you will understand why we are peed off.

Gaffer if the amount that has been taken from you is equel to the amount that you will be recieving then that makes you pretty unique, all the whingers and scroungers on the radio, television and here at work seem to be expecting more, that extra money is coming from my wages to be given to people simply because they have children and in all the cases I'a aware of by choice.

Rudd if you're ****** off with the cost of raising YOUR children, think how ****** off I am having to contribute to the cost of raising YOUR chidren.

Stuart, I don't know where you got your information from, but I, and most of the people I know, are going to get far less back than what we are being deducted.

Could I ask in what way you think you are paying for the raising of my children?

Although I'm young (30 ish!) I've always paid my way and I've never had any hand-outs. I'm roughly £100 a month down at the moment because of my deductions. I don't know about you, but that's a lot of money when I'm the only wage earner in a family of 4. Perhaps I'd be better off on the Social, that way I could fish full time and you'd have something worth moaning about!

Stuart and Yoxer, I think your gripe would be better directed at those that sponge off the government, not people like me who pays my way.

Out of interest, do either of you two have any children?

Why is it that some people are always ready to have a go a people in receipt of benefits or tax credits. The system is not created by the recipients.

Having children is a choice, so are most things in life, some people choose to smoke, and so contribute more tax, others buy and drink alcohol and pay more tax (some of us brew it ourselves and save a fortune).

The tax and benefits system is arranged by the government. They have decided to tax everyone at a given level, and to give some of that tax back in the form of credits to people with children. What's wrong with that?

The government having made that decision why should the people that are eligible then have to wait beyond the due date to receive it, it is something which is their right, and as pointed out the government are quick enough taking the tax we owe them.

We all live in a society where there are winners and losers in the tax system, though in theory society as a whole benefits.

Stuart, your parents will in all probability have received some "hand outs" from the state for your benefit when you were a child, if you are so opposed to that principle how about you voluntarily reimbursing the public purse?
