I heard that Billy Makin had sold his complex to British Waterways. Does anyone know what if any difference is to be made to the running of the waters this year?

Yup, it's same old makins. Fished it regularly this winter snd nothing seems to have changed (yet at least).

Nothing has changed as it is still Makins, as the deal is not closed yet. I spoke to the bailiff yesterday and it's been "within the next two weeks" for the last few fortnights.

Do you reckon anything will change when BW take over? The place is always busy and full of fish. What do you think BW can add (or take away) from the complex?

I think for the style of water it is about right.

 

You can't wan't any more fish in it, can you?

 

Maybe more toilets (for the benefit of the fairer sex). Personally, I'm not that bothered about food/drink/tackle facilities.

 

The rules are about right too. I've always been surprised they allow groundbait on all the pools so perhaps that will change on the smaller pools. Looking at a few web pages for BW waters they have a one rod only rule on at least one water, and some maximum hook sizes on most, so these are possible changes.

I admit I don’t know Makin’s at all but I do have a question for you all – Why is BW a public funded quango, wanting to buy this private fishery?

 

Or put another way why is public money funding private profit? :confused: :confused:

The answer is simple. Makin's is a gold mine. In the summer the place is packed day in day out and even in the winter it is steady

The question about makins nothing is going to change except keep nets will be allowed on phase 3 for pleasure anglers and the sale goes ahead at the end of Jan.

because they HAVE to spend money , its the same with the church losing millions on the stock market , the local council pumping thousands of pounds into private ventures , the government bailing out private companies , its classed as a loss , the local council has a huge surplus from council tax collections :mad:

reduce the council tax like buggery ,throw the money away on some rubbish after all the government will confiscate it and give it to a council that CANT manage their money.

on the same thread why is the council ALLOWED to sell council land :confused: the council is OUR elected representatives to fight for us and SERVE us , no-one says sell our land , councilers hang them all :mad:
