Scripts & Databases - Techy Help

Recommended Posts

Anyone here good with web based scripts and databases?

I want to create a password protected area on a site, whereby the visitor has to enter their email address to be sent the password.

Once in this area, I have a database that I want them to be able to interrogate in a number of different ways.

Does that sound reasonably easy? Any pointers to scripts/pages that may help me?

Cheers,

Elton

Don't know anything about Java. I've spent the last few days teaching myself HTML code from here

They've got some stuff on forms and passwords and Java you can copy and paste. Don't know if it's anything like what you want?

(Does anyone know any similar HTML help sites for me?)

There's a chap named John Carter at http://www.databasedesign.co.uk who might be very helpful, but you might have to buy his book first. Promise to buy the second edition when it comes out in a few months.

Elton try here to see typical example of a password page

Cheers, but it's more the 'how' that I'm looking for :) The one I've been pointed to by Wirral Chris seems to do all the things I want (I think), like allow immediate access after registering, automatic detail amendment, password retrieval, etc.

All the best,

Elton
