You need to travel out past the black stump to find real Australian outback.

 

Nearest I ever got was a hunting trip (kangeroo and wild boar) on a sheep station 'near' Nyngan, NSW.

Not been to Australia before but it is definitely one of the places I will visit during my lifetime.

4 weeks, mate, scratching for garnets, looking at deserted mines and generally enjoying the marvellous desert countryside...And watching literally thousands of budgerigahs flying and wheeling around during the last hour of daylight. Couldn't manage any pics of them.
