Now you know why I got away from it all.

Sounds about the size of the flat I had in Carshalton, that was band c though. I forget what it cost for the council tax there, but I have never had a better service from the council. Seemed as though they did everything they were supposed to, and more.

Skips sent round 2 or 3 times a year for any large items of rubbish etc that you wanted removing.

Seem to remember it was quite expensive, bet it's all changed now, that was about 6 years ago.

Mines also shot up and they did a break down of the increase:- Council Tax up 8.7% on 2001/2002

Local Parish Tax up 1.6% on 2001/2002

Police Tax up 33.2% on 2001/2002

Thus making an average increase of 10.4% for 2002/2003. Is my maths wrong or is this correct? I know it was a long time since I was at school but even with a calculator I cannot work this one out. When I phoned the help line the person who dealt with the enquirey was unavailable and so I ask when they would be able to give me an answer I was told that they did not know.

Nutter.

Hi Newt

In a nutshell Band a - smallest house upto Band g (I think) biggest house.

The banding is supposed to represent the value of the house.

You pay a council tax based on the band in which your property lies.

Band a lowest tax band g highest.

The actual amount paid various from area to area.

As a good rule of thumb the less you get for your money the more you pay - or is that just the cynic in me. :D
